Community tree workshops to be offered in Wellsboro on Sept. 24

Two upcoming free events focusing on community trees and their care will be offered on September 24th, 2025 at the Deane Center in Wellsboro. 

DCNR Bureau of Forestry, the Wellsboro Parks and Recreation Department, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, and Penn State Extension Urban Forestry are hosting the “Community Tree Roundtable for North Central PA Municipalities” from noon to 3 p.m.

This will include presentations on funding opportunities, sidewalk conflict and hazard mitigation, general tree care and more. Any individuals who help maintain community trees are invited, including volunteers and shade tree commissions, municipal workers, public works staff, conservation districts, master gardeners and others. 

Registration can be found online at the Northcentral PA Minicipalities website or sent to Emily Shosh, Northern Region Community Forestry Specialist, at eshosh@pa.gov 

Additionally, an evening session from 6:30-8 p.m. will be provided at the Deane Center for anyone interested in learning about community trees. Presentation topics to be offered include proper planting and aftercare, pruning recommendations and managing tree stressors.
