Hyner Mountain Snowmobile Club safety course offered
The Hyner Mountain Snowmobile Club’s youth Pennsylvania snowmobile safety course is scheduled to be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 3 at the Hyner Mountain Snowmobile Club lodge. It’s located approximately six miles north of Haneyville and directly across Route 44 from Pat Reeder’s Tavern in Clinton County.
Parents are to accompany their children to registration so that the required forms may be completed. Registration begins at 8:30 a.., class starts promptly at 9 a.m. and will end no latter than 3 p.m.
Class participants qualify for their certificate by completing their workbooks and achieving a score of 80% or better on the final examination. Students receive their safety certificates at the end of the course.
Pre-registration is required. Adults are encouraged to participate. The class is free and the Hyner Mountain Snowmobile Club will provide lunch.
For those traveling to attend this safety class, lodging at the club is available. Those parents and students staying at the lodge should bring their own bedding — a sleeping bad and pillow are recommended.
Finally, if there is rideable snow on the Jan. 3 class date, adults are invited to bring snowmobiles and riding gear for themselves and their youth students so that the DCNR-specific performance test can be administered to the youth students.
