AUDUBON EVENT: LYCOMING CREEK

NOTES: Explore several sections of excellent riparian and wetland habitation during this walk close to Williamsport. Walk a portion of the Lycoming Creek Bike Path, as we search for waterfowl, heron, kingfishers and more.
FALL AMBIENCE
WHERE: Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m.
NOTES: Join the park naturalist for a relaxing evening to hear fall ambience. Topics of discussion wil center around what is being heard. This is designed to be an informal program. All children must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new state or community guidelines.
Those interested should meet at the amphitheater.
CCC OF HYNER RUN
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Sunday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m.
NOTES: Join the park naturalist and learn about the CCC of Hyner Run, the work they did in the 1930s and 1940s in the area, the culture in these camps and how it prepared some to be well-disciplined World War II veterans. All children must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new community guidelines. Those interested should meet at the amphitheater by the pool. Please bring a lan chair.
BACKPACKING FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED/BLIND
WHERE: Miller Trail at Loyalsock State Forest
WHEN: Tuesday, Sept. 22 to Wednesday, Sept. 23
NOTES: Step into the wild with confidence and connection on this overnight backpacking adventure, designed especially for individuals who are visually impaired. With trained human guides supporting participants, we will walk slowly and thoughtfully, exploring gentle, level terrain wtih senses wide open to our surroundings. We provide all gear, meals and a warm, welcoming atmosphere where safety and belonging come first.
We will be backpacking on the Miller Trail in the Loyalscok State Forest, exploring just a one-half mile of this level, grassy trail to our campsite next to the beautiful Hessler branch (stream). We will have assistance for navigating the trail and camp set up.
Enjoy an evening in the forest where we will enjoy a meal and time around the campfire. Each person will have an individual tent.
Before we hit the trail, join us for a pre-trip Zoom session to meet your guides, ask questions and get excited. Whether you're new to backpacking or a seasoned explorer, this journey is crafted to empower, uplift and inspire. The cost for this trip is reduced to $125 per person.

NOTES: Join us for a program featuring Dr. Morrison's experience on her three-week summer 2025 photo-safari to South Africa. Morrison's work revolves around a variety of topics, including birds and other fauna. We'll discuss the state of wildlife conservation efforts and the challenges of conservation both in South Africa and beyond. Come wonder at the dazzling variety of wildlife that survive and thrive in the extreme environments of South Africa.

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m.
NOTES: Back by popular demand, we are excited to again partner with Therapy Brewing to offer an opportunity to walk this beautiful property and maybe enjoy a fall beverage. We will gather in the parking area and join with th property owners as we walk the paths through meadows and forest, and have a post-walk refreshment at the brewery.
