OLD GROWTH FORESTS
WHERE: Little Pine State Park
WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:15 p.m.
NOTES: Join the park naturalist to learn about topics about old growth forests such as the history that many of these forests went through and some of the threats old growth forests face today. A movie will be shown. All children must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
The program may be modified or canceled in the event of severe weather or new state or community guidelines. Those interested should meet at the amphitheater.
TERRIFIC TREES
WHERE: Hyner Run State Park
WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 3 at 4 p.m.
NOTES: Join the park naturalist to take a look and tell the difference between some of the different terrific tree species in Hyner Run State Park. There will be a craft at the end. This program will be suited towards families with children, but anyone is welcome to attend.

VALLEY BIRD WALK
WHERE: Williamsport Water Authority Trails (1600 Mosquito Valley Road, Duboistown)
WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 10 at 8 a.m.
NOTES: Join birders of all experience levels for an enjoyable autumn walk on forested trails, and along brushy habitat as we look and listen for fall species.This is a mostly flat and easy walk.

RIDER PARK BIRD WALK
WHERE: 1769 Caleb Creek Road, Trout Run
WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 17 at 8 a.m.
NOTES: Hike with Rider Park manager and members of the Lycoming Audubon Society as we look and listen for a variety of species of birds in the woods and meadows of the Allegheny Ridge. The walk follows moderate grades, on mostly grassy trails. We will meet at the main parking area.

BIRD WALK
WHERE: 2870 Greevey Road, Montoursville
WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 24 at 9 a.m.
NOTES: This local hotspot offers the chance to see and hear a wide variety of species. The location along the Susquehanna River, with its grassy meadows, woodlands and wetlands provides varied habitat for many different species. This will be a leisurely and flat walk from the parking area out to the fields and riverfront of the island.

WHEN: Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m.
NOTES: Join us for a program featuring Dr. Mercy Melo, the Wildlife Management Supervisor for the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Northcentral Region. Focusing on the interactions of different bird species, this presentation will focus on the decline of American Kestrel populations over the past five decades, as researchers continue to be puzzled as to the potential causes. In this program, we will discuss the potential non-consumptive impacts Cooper's hawks are having on kestrel behavior, survival and chick development, which may help us understand how these populations may be intertwined.

FAREWELL BIRD WALK
WHERE: Rose Valley Lake Boat Ramp South (Sugar Camp Road, Trout Run)
WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 31 at 8 a.m.
NOTES: Join us for a farewell bird walk of Rose Valley Lake. This may be the last time we can see the lake for the next several years as the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission draw down the lake in anticipation of dam and spillway restoration. We will assess the situation and water levels as the date draws near to determine the viability of this location for birding.
