Mansfield man allegedly steals bed
MANSFIELD – A Mansfield man is being charged with theft after he allegedly kept and sold a mattress loaned to him.
Mansfield Borough police reported Pamela Mulder loaned a complete bed to Oliver Lenor Marble, 53, of 52 E. Elmira St.
In August, Marble moved in with Mulder’s daughter but kept his former apartment, leaving the bed there unused.
Marble allegedly took the mattress to his new residence and sold it.
Marble will appear before District Judge James E. Carlson for a preliminary hearing Oct. 14.
Dog allegedly shot for barking
TIOGA – A man allegedly shot and killed his parents’ dog for barking.
Matthew Ray Frost, 25, of 417 Simonds Hill Lane, Tioga, was with his mother, Barbara Frost, in the living room when the dog started barking. Barbara Frost told state police Matthew Frost allegedly retrieved a hand gun from a bedroom, came back and shot the dog twice. Barbara Frost and her husband, James, fled the house and hid in nearby woods. James Frost told police he saw Matthew Frost drive away in his red Jeep.
Police located Matthew Frost’s car at the Acorn Market near routes 287 and 328 and found a shotgun and handgun in the vehicle, an affidavit said. When taken into police custody, Matthew Frost allegedly told police he shot the dog in self-defense.
Matthew Frost was arraigned before District Judge Robert Repard and jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Woman allegedly took dad’s pot
WESTFIELD – A Westfield woman is being charged with theft for going to her father’s residence with two friends and allegedly taking his marijuana, gun and money.
Holly Marie Butler, 29, of 221 Main St., allegedly was with friends Lewis Earle and Daniel McKenney when the three decided they wanted to smoke marijuana, according to state police. Butler allegedly proposed going to her father’s residence and taking his marijuana while he was out of town.
According to an affidavit, the three arrived at Butler’s father’s home where Butler allegedly went into the garage and removed marijuana while McKenney and Earle went into the house and allegedly took a Remington Model 725 rifle and $500 cash in coins.
Earle allegedly took the gun to Niles Guns and Gold and pawned the weapon for $85.
Butler will be formally arraigned before District Judge Robert Repard Sept. 28.
Earle was arrested Aug. 17 and an arrest for McKenney is pending.
Man jailed in
simple assault
COVINGTON – A Covington man allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in their residence following an argument Tuesday.
According to an affidavit filed by state police, Matthew Ryan Jerome, 21, of 2312 N. Williamson Road, was home with his girlfriend when he allegedly pushed her against a wall and hit her.
Police said they observed a scratch on the woman’s left and right shoulders and red coloration around her neck, according to court documents.
Jerome was arraigned before District Judge James E. Carlson and jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Man charged with false statement
MANSFIELD – A man is being charged with giving false statements to law enforcement officers.
On July 23, Brandon Scott Johnson, 18, of 470 Aumick Road, Mansfield, allegedly told DCNR Bureau of Forestry ranger Jeremy C. Betchel he wanted to press charges against several individuals he alleged shot him with Air Soft pistols, threatened him and would not allow him to leave, forcing him to drive his truck through mud holes until his vehicle broke down, according to court documents.
Through investigation, Betchel found these statements to be untrue. Johnson later admitted to making up the statements, the affidavit said.
Johnson will appear before District Judge James E. Carlson for a preliminary hearing Oct. 14.
9 sentenced in Tioga County Court
WELLSBORO – Nine people were sentenced in Tioga County Court on Monday.
Sentenced to state prison was:
Dylan Joseph Bonk, 22, Wellsboro, 24 to 54 1/2 months and $500 fine for aggravated assault.
Sentenced to county prison were:
Travis Gardner, 22, Austin, Pennsylvania, 172 days to 23 1/2 months with credit for 172 days and $105 restitution.
Joshua Adam Wesolowski, 23, Mansfield, 72 hours to 6 months, $1,000 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension and $23,482 restitution for DUI.
Sentenced to probation was:
Troy C. Adriance, 25, Bath, New York, 12 months and $200 fine for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sentenced to Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition were:
Timothy A. Mong, 27, Bethlehem, nine months and 30 days driver’s license suspension for DUI.
Kyle Mark Troiano, 20, Lake Ariel, 12 months and 90 days driver’s license suspension for DUI.
Sara Hilton, 35, Wellsboro, 12 months probation and 60 days driver’s license suspension for DUI.
Zachery James Horner, 19, Mansfield, nine months for small amount marijuana.
Jeffrey S. Allen, 54, Altoona, nine months for DUI.

Man jailed for alleged aggravated assault
MANSFIELD – A Forest City Man was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly fighting officers trying to help him after he took LSD.
Mansfield University Police were dispatched to the A parking lot of Oak Manor on Sept. 8 after a graduate assistant reported Anthony Charles Wilcox, 19, of 622 Lackawanna St., allegedly took LSD, according to an affidavit.
Wilcox told officers he did not feel good because he had taken LSD, court documents said. When an ambulance arrived for Wilcox he allegedly refused to get on a stretcher. Wilcox allegedly refused treatment and tried to run away. Wilcox physically resisted arrest and once placed in the back of the police car kicked an officer in the groin.
Wilcox was arraigned before District Judge James E. Carlson and jailed in lieu of $7,500 bail.
Wellsboro man charged with identity theft
WELLSBORO – A Wellsboro man was charged with identity theft after allegedly using company credit cards for personal purchases.
Matthew David Wilson, 22, of 55 Central Ave., Apt. U, allegedly used credit cards belonging to JGM Coach LLC on 16 purchases totaling $1,934.06.
Business owners contacted Wellsboro police Aug. 5 and stated Wilson had made the purchases without the company’s knowledge or approval, according to an affidavit.
Wilson will appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Repard Sept. 29.
10 are sentenced in Tioga County Court
WELLSBORO – Ten people were sentenced at the Tioga County courthouse this week.
Sentenced to county prison were:
Patrick McCune, 34, of Wellsboro, 100 to 233 days with credit for time served and two years probation for stalking.
Billie Jo Spratt, 37, of Hughesville, 79 days to six months with credit for time served, $500 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension and 30 hours community service for DUI.
Samantha Strange, 29, of Mansfield, six days to 23 1/2 months with credit for time served, $100 fine, $1,975 restitution and 30 hours community service for retail theft.
Erik Echuk, 27, of Westfield, 90 days to five years, 12 months probation, $1,500 fine and 18 months driver’s license suspension for DUI, fleeing and eluding law enforcement and defiant trespass.
Jonah Oliver, 24, of Wellsboro, 84 days to one year with credit for time served, $100 fine and 30 hours community service after probation revoked for furnishing drug-free urine.
Clifford L. Lindegren, 52, of Cameron Mills, New York, nine to 23 1/2 months, 12 months probation, $250 fine and $44,368 restitution for receiving stolen property.
Sentenced to intermediate punishment were:
Tulsa J. Frey, 33, of Morris Run, 24 months with 120 days in Tioga County Prison/Work Release and 30 days on electronic monitoring, $500 fine, $6,400 restitution and 50 hours community service for unlawful killing of big game.
Logan Ackley, 26, of Ulyssess, six months with 72 hours in Tioga County Prison/Work Release, $1,000 fine, 12 months driver’s license suspension and 30 hours community service for DUI.
Sentenced to probation were:
Jonathan Elliot, 58, of Tioga, six months, 72 hours house arrest, $1,000 fine and 12 months driver’s license suspension for DUI.
Sean Mack, 22, of Wellsboro, 12 months, $400 fine and 30 hours community service for possession of drug paraphernalia and small amount of marijuana.
