12 charged in Mansfield area

MANSFIELD — Twelve people have been charged with various criminal offenses, according to court records. Those charged and the law enforcement agencies involved were:

• Summer Ann Benjamin, 38, of 2424 Bailey Road, state police; simple assault, harassment; after allegedly hitting John Palfreyman in the back of the head at her residence on May 20. She is jailed on $3,000 bail and is to appear before Judge Cummings on May 26 for her preliminary hearing.

• Jonathon Scott Baker, 34, of 58 Kelsey Road, state police; retail theft; after allegedly stealing two containers of General Tso’s Chicken, totalling $6.28, from 1169 S. Main St. on April 8. He was sent a court summons and is to appear before Judge Cummigns on June 17 for his preliminary hearing.

• Seth Michael Derrins, 27, of 150 N. Main St., state police; DUI, maximum speed limits, careless driving; after allegedly having a BAC of 0.137 on North Williamson Road and Dike Lane on March 1. He was sent a court summons and is to appear before Judge Cummings on June 3 for his preliminary hearing.

• Zachary Boyd Easton, 34, of 144 Scenic View Drive; Mansfield police; DUI, careless driving, disregard traffic lane, registration and certification required; after allegedly having 0.95 ethyl alcohol in his system at 306 S. Main St. on Feb. 24. He was sent a court summons and is to appear before Judge Cummings on May 27 for his preliminary hearing.

• Brandy Lynn Tripp, 42, of Liberty; state police; DUI, drivers required to be licensed, driving with operating privileges suspended, driving on roadways laned for traffic, careless driving; after allegedly having a BAC of 0.175 at 1989 S. Main St. on Feb. 16. She was sent a court summons and appeared before Judge Cummings on May 13 for her preliminary hearing.

• Austin C. Foutz, 21, of Roaring Branch, Mansfield police; DUI, driving on right side of roadway, disregard traffic lane; after allegedly having a BAC of 0.136 on Route 6, South Main Street in Mansfield on Feb. 15. He was sent a court summons and is to appear before Judge Cummings on June 10 for his preliminary hearing.

• Albert Olivo, 26, of 150 N. Main St., Mansfield police; DUI, public drunkenness; after allegedly having a BAC of 0.181 in the parking lot of his residence on Feb. 1. He is jailed on $2,500 bail and his preliminary hearing was waived.

• James Harvey Vandergrift, 62, of 1275 Pitts Road; state police; criminal mischief and harassment; after allegedly driving a truck into an ATV and then smashing the ATV’s lights on 661 Pitts Road on Jan. 11. He was sent a court summons and appeared before Judge Cummings on May 13 for his preliminary hearing.

• Michelle J. Burzak, 44, of 166 West Avenue; state police; retail theft; after allegedly switching price tags on clothing items and ringing up items that didn’t match her purchase at 1169 S. Main St. on Jan. 31. She was sent a court summons and appeared before Judge Cummings on May 20 for her preliminary hearing.

• Michael Nowell Miranda, 19, of Lebanon; Mansfield University police; possession of small amount of marijuana, use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia; after allegedly having a disposable plastic cup with water and marijuana residue on 125 Clinton St. on Dec. 8, 2019. He was sent a court summons and appeared before Judge Cummings on May 20 for his preliminary hearing.

• Christine Frances Rafter, 56, of 1153 West Hill Road; Blossburg police; DUI, careless driving, driving on roadways laned for traffic, period required for lighted lamps; after allegedly causing a vehicle crash with a BAC of 0.198 at 118 West Hill Road on Nov. 19, 2019. She was sent a court summons and appeared before Judge Cummings on May 20 for her preliminary hearing.

• Chandler Bryan Virasith, 20, of Millerton; state police; unauthorized use of automobile; after allegedly stealing Scotty House’s truck and returning it at 71 Morris Run Road on Oct. 27, 2019. He was sent a court summons and appeared before Judge Cummings on May 6 for his preliminary hearing.
