Convicted felon arrested yet again
Convicted felon Malik Washington, 21, of 690 Third Ave., is back behind bars after allegedly pointing a loaded handgun at another man and threatening to shoot him in the 400 block of Hawthorne Avenue about 1 p.m. Saturday, city Patrolman Thaddaeus Trafford alleged in an affidavit.
Although he had already fled the scene when police arrived, he was later apprehended and taken before District Judge Christian Frey to face charges of convicted felon not to possess a firearm, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering, simple assault and tampering with evidence. He was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail.
Trafford did not identify the victim in court papers.
As he fled, Washington ditched the handgun in a nearby yard, but an officer later recovered it, Trafford said, adding that police obtained a video that showed Washington tossing the gun in yard.
Rape charges filed against Jersey Shore man
Joshua Morehart, 31, of 225 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, has been locked on 10 rape-related charges after sexually assaulting a female acquaintance on three occasions in Jersey Shore between mid-September and last week, Tiadaghton Valley Regional police alleged in court papers.
Morehart was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Gary Whiteman on three counts each of rape, sexual assault, indecent assault and one count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
City man charged with assault
With his hands allegedly around a woman's neck, Marco Garrrison Jr. told the woman "I'm going to kill you" during a disturbance at what was the couple's home at 1642 Randall Circle in Loyalsock Township on Aug. 4, according to state police.
Charged with strangulation, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment, Garrison, 41, of 522 Rural Ave., was held for court on all charges last week and released on $25,000 bail.
Muncy area woman jailed
Megan Shroy, 35, of 528 Ruben Kehrer Road, Muncy, has been locked up on charges of theft and receiving stolen property for her alleged involvement in the passing of a counterfeit $20 bill at the Turkey Hill on Route 87, just outside Montoursville, on June 9, according to state police.
Shroy was buying merchandise for Daniel Mowry, 43, of Belpre, Ohio, who handed her the bill inside the store, police said. It tuned out the bill was fake, police said. Arraigned recently before District Judge Gary Whiteman, Shroy remains behind bars in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Mowry also was charged with the same offenses, but he failed to appear for his preliminary hearing, according to court records.
City man on probation faces new charges
When county adult probation officer paid a surprise visit on Oct. 14 to the Campbell street apartment of Brett Boyer, who is under their supervision, the 30-year-old man was not there, but his fiancee was, according to an affidavit filed by city Patrolman Dustin Reeder. The woman allowed the probation officer in to complete a check of the apartment.
"When the officer entered Boyer's bedroom in apartment 9 at 659 Campbell St. about 2 p.m., he immediately saw a stack of cash and an open backpack on the floor that contained numerous bags of suspected marijuana," Reeder said. The discovery prompted the officer to notify city police.
Police seized nearly 40 bags of marijuana and assorted paraphernalia from the apartment. Boyer was arraigned last week before District Judge Aaron Biichle on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of marijuana, and jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Six men charged with drug offenses
Dhakwan Kelly, 28, of 765 W. Third St., apartment 3, faces two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone for allegedly selling drugs on two occasions to an informant, according to the county Narcotics Enforcement Unit. He sold cocaine to an informant outside his (Kelly's) apartment last Dec. 5, investigators alleged in court papers. The second alleged sale took place on Jan. 21 in Kelly's apartment and involved a bulk of heroin, police said. Kelly, who goes by "Kwan," was arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey and jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Joshua Fox, 28, of 1020 Market St., has been charged with possession of suspected methamphetamines and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 100 block of Pine Street about 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 3, according to city police Sgt. Brian McGee.
Following his arraignment before District Judge Aaron Biichle, Fox, was released on $5,000 bail on these charges, but he remains incarcerated at the county prison on another undisclosed matter.
In another case, McGee also charged Christopher Wojcak, 35, of Towanda, with the same offenses after methamphetamines were located in his car in the 400 block of Little League Boulevard about 10 a.m. on Oct. 27. McGee said that at the time, Wojcak, a state parolee, was paying a visit to the state Board of Probation and Parole. Arraigned last week on these charges, Wojcak was released on $5,000 bail in the case, but he too remains jailed on another unknown matter at the county prison.
Cody Augustine, 31, of 1551 Catherine St., has been charged by state police with possession of a suboxone pill without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia at Edercrest Road and Westminster Drive in Loyalsock Township on June 23. He is free on $7,500 bail.
Tony Birch, 57, of 327 W. Second Ave., South Williamsport, has been charged by Old Lycoming Township police, with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 5000 block of Route 15 in the township on Oct. 15. He has been sent a summons to appear before a district judge.
Kenneth Kreger, 25, of 330 Hastings St., South Williamsport, has been charged by state police with possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia near Market and Hepburn streets in the city on July 29. He is free on $5,000 bail.
Seven motorists have been charged with DUI
Kensha Dewald, 29, of 2305 Lycoming Creek Road, apartment 3, had a blood-alcohol content level of .10 when a state trooper stopped her 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier in the 1800 block of East Third Street in Loyalsock Township because she was driving with no headlights on about 10:45 p.m. on Aug. 29, court records state. Charged with DUI, careless driving and driving without a license, Dewald is free on $5,000 bail.
After spotting the license plate on motorist Grady Walker's 2011 Hyundai Genesis and learning that it had expired, a state troopers stopped the driver on Interstate 180 in Montoursville on Aug. 14, according to court records. Walker, 47, of 70 S. Second St., Hughesville, had bloodshot eyes and the trooper detected "a strong scent of an alcoholic beverage" coming from him, court records stated. Charged with DUI, Walker, who refused to provide a blood sample, is free on $5,000 bail.
Because he failed to use his turn signal, motorist Daniel Leech, 29, of 18 W. Southern Ave., South Williamsport, was stopped near the Faxon interchange of Interstate 180 about 2:45 a.m. on Aug. 8, state police said. Taken into custody on suspected drunk driving, Leech has been charged with DUI and careless driving after a blood test revealed that his blood-alcohol content level at the time was .21. He is free on $5,000 bail.
A state trooper detected "an odor of an alcoholic beverage" on motorist James Brokaw Stealey after he stopped the 18-year-old's 2011 Nissan Versa near West Southern Avenue and Reynolds Street in South Williamsport on June 25, according to court records. Brokaw Stealey, of 327 George St., South Williamsport, had a blood-alcohol content level of .06 and was charged with DUI. He is free on $5,000 bail.
A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was coming from motorist Thomas Tallman Jr.'s 2015 Chevrolet Silverado after a state trooper stopped him for speeding and failing to use a turn signal on Interstate 180 in Loyalsock Township on June 24, court records state. His blood-alcohol content level was .15, police said. Charged with DUI, speeding and careless driving, Tallman, 49, of 668 Back St., Montoursville, is free on $5,000 bail.
Adam Shienvold, 46, of Harrisburg, was charged with DUI and careless driving at West Third and William streets in the city after a state trooper stopped his BMW for traveling the wrong way on a one-way street about 12:10 a.m. on June 20. His blood-alcohol content level was .15. He is free on $5,000 bail.
Tony Krause, 33, of Lansford, Carbon County, was charged with DUI and careless driving following a crash in which his tractor-trailer truck overturned on the city side of the Market Street bridge about 8:45 p.m. on April 9, city police said. "He showed several signs of alcohol impairment," an officer said of Krause, who refused to provide a blood sample. He is free on $5,000 bail.
City man allegedly stole relative's TV and remote
Nathan Bennett II, 20, of 2029 Boyd St., has been charged with theft for stealing a television set and remote from the home of his aunt, Danielle Buries, at 1021 High St. on May 19, city police allege. He has waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $2,500 bail that was set by District Judge Christian Frey.
City man locked up without bail
Bail was denied for Seneca Mitchell who allegedly attempted to force his way into an apartment at the Timberland Apartments development on West Edwin Street as he was running from police about 7:45 p.m. on Oct. 23, according to city Patrolman Nicholas Carrita.
Mitchell made attempts to elude an officer after seeing him, Carrita said. After Mitchell opened a screen door, he struggled with another man, who refused to allow him into the apartment, the officer said.
Upon being detained, Mitchell, 19, of 413 High St., was found to have a small amount of marijuana in his pocket, Carrita said. He was arraigned before District Judge Jon Kemp on charges of simple assault, felony trespassing, disorderly conduct and harassment before being sent to the county prison.
City man allegedly exposed himself
James Bower, 60, of 830 Park Place, has been charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct after he exposed himself to three people, including a minor, in the 600 block of Green Street about 2 p.m. on Aug. 16, city police alleged. He recently waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail.
