NEU allegedly found drugs while executing search warrant
Members of the Lycoming County Narcotics Enforcement Unit allegedly found two ounces of fentanyl and one ounce of methamphetamine in Francis Fredin II's house at 1024 Baldwin Street when they executed a search warrant Jan. 21.
The 24 year old was taken into custody in an alleyway behind the house, and was arraigned by District Judge Aaron Biichle for possession with intent to deliver.
Biichle set bail to $85,000, and unable to post, Fredin will remain in the Lycoming County Prison until his preliminary hearing.
Washingtonville woman charged with DUI, others after alleged crash
Nicole Bickel, 42, of Washingtonville, was charged with DUI, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving on Sept. 11, 2020, after allegedly crashing her Mercury Sable into a parked Chevy Impala.
Bickel showed several signs of impairment, and had a glass smoking pipe and a small amount of crack cocaine on the passenger side of the vehicle, according to Thad Trafford, a city police officer. District Judge Aaron Biichle arraigned Bickel, and she waived her preliminary hearing.
Jersey Shore man allegedly had drugs in traffic stop
Victor Garms, 45, of 286 Hill St., Jersey Shore, faces several charges for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a Nov. 4, 2020, traffic pullover from city police.
Garms allegedly had a crack pipe in the car and a crack pipe hidden in a flashlight on his person, according to city police officer Brett Garbrick.
Garbrick also said Garms allegedly had crack cocaine in a brown napkin in the center console.
Additionally, Garms allegedly had a case with clear glass methamphetamine pipes and crack pipes, brillo, a digital scale and a clear glass vial that was field tested as methamphetamine.
Finally, police allegedly found bath salts and a clear plastic bag containing possible "shrooms."
District Judge Aaron Biichle arraigned Garms, and released him on $5,000 bail. Garms is scheduled to appear for a formal arraignment before President Judge Nancy Butts Feb. 8.
City man allegedly stole appliances from front lawn
Yusef Wells, 43, of 1523 Memorial Ave., allegedly stole several kitchen appliances valued at $525 from a Menne Alley woman's front lawn for scrap Nov. 11, 2020, according to city police.
Wells had allegedly asked the woman if he could take the items, who was allegedly restoring her kitchen and was storing the items on her lawn, according to Andrew Stevens, a city police officer. The woman allegedly told Wells he was not allowed to take the items.
City police allegedly found Wells in a grocery store's parking lot. The bed of Wells' Gray Chevrolet Silverado allegedly had scrap items in it, and Wells allegedly denied taking the items.
Stevens said the alleged victim provided video of the incident, which showed a man matching Wells' and his truck's description removing the items from the woman's lawn.
District Judge Aaron Biichle arraigned Wells for theft, and released him on $5,000 bail. Wells is scheduled to be formally arraigned Feb. 8.
Man allegedly failed to signal while driving under the influence
Abdul-Malik Walker, 37, of 1740 Memorial Ave., was charged with DUI after he allegedly failed to signal a turn in front of a Montoursville police officer on patrol.
When Kurt Hockman, the Montoursville officer in question, pulled Walker over after the failed turn on the corner of East Church Street and Basin Street, Walker allegedly smelled marijuana coming from Walker's Ford Fusion.
Walker allegedly provided Hockman with an expired medical marijuana card, and told him he last smoked two hours before the incident.
Police allegedly found a marijuana grinder in the center console of the car, alongside a small amount of marijuana.
Walker tested positive for having marijuana in his system at UPMC Williamsport, and faces charges of DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failing to use a turn signal.
District Judge Aaron Biichle arraigned Walker and released him on $5,000 bail. Walker is scheduled to be formally arraigned Feb. 8.
Philadelphia man allegedly assaulted city man
Jayson Bannerman, 21, of Philadelphia, allegedly struck a man with a closed fist while the alleged victim was walking to his car back in June 2020, according to city police.
Bannerman allegedly admitted to striking the alleged victim, Michael Maire, according to Ryan Brague, a city police officer. Brague said Bannerman allegedly told him Maire said a racial slur to him.
Video footage allegedly shows Maire walking to the driver's side of his truck with a baseball bat in his hand for protection. Then, Bannerman allegedly approached Michael and struck him, before running southbound.
District Judge Aaron Biichle arraigned Bannerman on charges of simple assault and harassment, and set bail to $25,000 on Jan. 8. Later, Biichle released Bannerman on that bail, and Bannerman is scheduled to appear before President Judge Nancy Butts Feb. 8.
City man faces charges of DUI, careless driving
Michael John Dougherty, 26, of 1131 Almond St., faces charges associated with DUI after he allegedly sped past state police on Washington Boulevard back in September.
Cpl. James Doane, in the passenger seat, said Cpl. Larue Stelene turned the state police cruiser around and followed Dougherty onto Almond Street.
Dougherty allegedly drove in the middle of the road, "drifting partially left," as the state troopers pursued him. Dougherty allegedly executed a three-point turn and parked, while the cruiser blocked the road ahead of him, according to Doane.
Dougherty allegedly exited the vehicle and began to walk toward a nearby house when state police told him to return to the vehicle, Doane said.
Doane allegedly observed Dougherty's eyes to be glassy and bloodshot, and said the man smelled of alcohol. Dougherty allegedly admitted he drank two glasses of wine.
Doane said they transported Dougherty to UPMC Williamsport, where he allegedly showed a BAC of 0.23.
District Judge Aaron Biichle arraigned Dougherty on charges of DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road, not using a turn signal, failing to drive at a safe speed and careless driving.
Biichle released Dougherty on $5,000 bail, and Dougherty is next scheduled to appear for a formal arraignment before President Judge Nancy Butts Feb. 8.
City man allegedly stole $25 check
Randy Rinehart, 50, of 333 Brandon Ave., allegedly tried to cash a check for $25 that belonged to someone else back in August 2020, according to city police. District Judge Aaron Biichle arraigned Rinehart on charges of theft and receiving stolen property, and released him on $5,000 bail. Rinehart is scheduled to appear for a formal arraignment Feb. 8.
City man allegedly stole ex-girlfriend's dog
Brahim Riddick, 21, of 1170 Isabella St., allegedly broke down his ex-girlfriend's front door, grabbed her dog and kicked the woman on his way out the early morning of Jan. 15, according to city police.
Riddick had allegedly been harassing the woman, who he has not been in a relationship with for more than a month, according to Zachary Schon, a city police officer.
According to the woman, police allegedly told Riddick he was not welcome at the Memorial Avenue residence before, Schon said. The woman said Riddick has allegedly been harassing her for weeks, according to Schon, and had stolen the dog a week before.
The woman allegedly had paperwork that proves the dog belongs to her, Schon said. Schon reported the dog was returned to its owner.
Although Riddick allegedly kicked the woman, she did not require medical attention, Schon said.
District Judge Christian Frey arraigned Riddick on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, simple assault and harassment.
Frey set bail to $50,000, and unable to post, Riddick will remain in the Lycoming County Prison until his preliminary hearing before Frey Jan. 26.
