Jersey Shore woman allegedly steals toys from Family Dollar
A Jersey Shore woman allegedly used a bag of stolen toys for tots donations to ferry an unpaid item out of the Old Lycoming Family Dollar in November.
Phyllis Wettlaufer, 37, of 36 Harer Park Road, Jersey Shore, allegedly entered the retail store around noon Nov. 27 and removed a plastic bag from the "Toys for Tots" donation bin, according to Old Lycoming Township Police.
She then allegedly walked around the store with the bag, and her young daughter allegedly moved a toy from the toy shelf into the bag, Michael Engel, an Old Lycoming Township police officer said.
On Wettlaufer's way to the checkout area, she allegedly placed the bag of stolen items by the exit. After paying for some of the items, Wettlaufer allegedly left the store and left the item she bought, a pink box, next to the plastic bag, according to Engel.
Wettlaufer returned twice, first retrieving the pink box, and later picking up the plastic bag, Engel said.
Wettlaufer was arraigned by District Judge William Solomon on charges of retail theft, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking. Wettlaufer was released on $15,000 unsecured bail, and is scheduled to appear before Solomon Jan. 20 for a preliminary hearing.
City man arraigned on DUI charges
Pascal Dolce, 38, of 687 Fourth Avenue, had a BAC of 0.14 percent when his vehicle allegedly crossed the centerline of a city road twice on June 20, 2020.
Dolce allegedly drove his Honda Odyssey completely across Washington Boulevard's centerline twice before police pulled him over, according to State Trooper Patrick Kineston.
Dolce allegedly smelled like alcohol and had bloodshot and glassy eyes, according to Kineston, and upon being tested, had ethanol in his system with a BAC of 0.143 percent.
Dolce was arraigned by District Judge Aaron Biichle for DUI, driving without a license, not driving within traffic lanes, careless driving and not meeting general lighting requirements. Dolce was released on $5,000 bail, and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Biichle on Jan. 25.
Hughesville man allegedly killed cat with crossbow, arraigned on methamphetamine charges
A Hughesville man who allegedly shot and killed an ex-roommate's cat Christmas Day has been arraigned on charges related to possession of methamphetamine.
Patrick Dieter, 31, of 142 Mohawk Drive, Hughesville, allegedly shot two crossbow bolts at his ex-roommate's cat in the process of attempting to remove it from the home December 25, according to State Trooper Paul Beard.
Dieter allegedly killed the cat, which was in the bathroom off his bedroom, by striking it once in the head with one of the bolts.
Both bolts that Dieter allegedly fired penetrated the outer walls of the residence.
As Dieter led Beard through the house to the bathroom, Beard allegedly observed methamphetamine alongside a scale, grinder and metal poker with residue.
Beard also allegedly found a black box containing smoking devices and a soda bottle containing syringes and plastic bags.
In a written statement, Dieter allegedly admitted to killing the cat, Beard said.
Dieter was arraigned by District Judge John Kemp Jan. 12, who arraigned the Hughesville man on charges of animal cruelty, aggravated animal cruelty, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
Kemp set bail to $50,000, and unable to post, Dieter remains incarcerated in the Lycoming County Prison until his preliminary hearing before Kemp Jan. 22.
