allegedly strangled woman
Justin Lloyd Lee, 47, of 156 Hillside Drive, allegedly attempted to strangle Launa Lee Jan. 17 because she did not bring home vodka when he had asked for cigarettes, soda and vodka, according to State Trooper Oliver Barbour.
Justin Lee then allegedly "grabbed her by the throat and said he was going to kill her if she did not give him money to go get more alcohol," Barbour said.
Barbour described Launa Lee as allegedly having red marks around her neck and bruises on her arm.
Justin Lee then allegedly began throwing and destroying objects in the next room, according to Barbour.
Launa Lee's son, Logan Lee, confronted Justin Lee to try to de-escalate the situation; however, Justin Lee allegedly began shoving and pushing him.
When Justin Lee realized Launa Lee called the police, he allegedly left the home and went to the wooded area behind the house, where state police later found him, Barbour said.
District Judge William Solomon arraigned Lee on charges of strangulation, simple assault, harassment and making terroristic threats, and set bail to $50,000. Lee appeared for a preliminary hearing Jan. 27 and is next scheduled to appear for a formal arraignment before President Judge Nancy Butts Feb. 22.
Trout Run man alleged
drove high on meth
Cody Jean, 29, of 37 Truman Road, Trout Run, allegedly had methamphetamine in his system when he crashed his Nissan Altima Dec. 2, 2020, according to state police.
Jean allegedly told troopers he was the driver of the vehicle before walking back on the statement, according to Trooper Nathan Birth. Jean allegedly said his wife drove the Altima before leaving in a white SUV.
However, Birth said there were fingerprint parks on the drivers' side of the vehicle and not the passenger side. Additionally, Jean had the keys to the vehicle in his pocket.
Jean allegedly seemed fidgety and rambled about events prior in the day, and allegedly said he was being followed or chased most of the day.
"I asked if he had exited the front passenger side door and he stated 'probably,' 'probably not, I was in a daze,'" Birth said.
Jean allegedly had amphetamine, methamphetamine and norbuprenorphine in his system when he consented to a blood draw at UPMC Williamsport.
District Judge Williams Solomon arraigned Jean on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended license, careless driving, disregard of traffic lanes and giving false information. Solomon set bail to $25,000, and Jean remained imprisoned until his preliminary hearing Jan. 27.
Jean is scheduled to appear before President Judge Nancy Butts for a formal arraignment Feb. 22.
Trout Run woman allegedly strikes mailbox while
under the influence
Marylou Cooley, 59, of 330 Myers Road allegedly struck a Lewis Township mailbox while driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee under the influence Nov. 29, 2020, according to state police.
The owner of the mailbox allegedly obtained the license plate, which traced back to a resident of 330 Myers Road, Trout Run, according to Trooper Taylor Rupert.
Rupert allegedly found Cooley inspecting damage to the front-right bumper of the Jeep at the Myers Road residence.
Cooley allegedly smelled of alcohol, had glassy and bloodshot eyes and admitted to driving the vehicle at around 5:30 p.m., although she allegedly said she did not know she hit a mailbox.
Rupert said Cooley allegedly showed signs of impairment, so he took her UPMC Williamsport for a blood draw. Cooley allegedly had ethanol in her system, with a BAC of .299.
District Judge William Solomon sent Cooley a summons to appear for a preliminary hearing related to charges of DUI, careless driving, criminal mischief and an accident involving damage with an attended vehicle.
