Two more arrests made in 2016 attack on couple

PICTURE ROCKS — Two more people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a burglary and subsequent attack on a couple that occurred nearly five years ago in the 300 block of Yeagle Road in Wolf Township.

Convicted felon Ronald Shoop Jr., 31, was arraigned before District Judge Jon E. Kemp on numerous felony charges in connection with the attack that occurred on July 7, 2016.

Police allege Shoop, who is currently serving a state prison term for burglary, played a key role in the assault that left the male victim with several skull fractures and deep lacerations to the head, according to court records filed by state police.

The female victim suffered a concussion and several lacerations, police said.

Shoop, who also goes by the name “Peeps,” has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping, unlawful restraint, terroristic threats, simple assault and felony trespassing.

The kidnapping charge stems from him and co-defendant Sheldon Spotts, 32, of 343 Old Route 220, Jersey Shore, tying up the couple with electric cords and duct tape in the couple’s basement. Spotts was already charged and is free on $90,0000 bail.

Shoop, formerly of the 800 block of Tucker Street and Linden, was brought from a state prison to the state police barracks at Montoursville, where he was arraigned. He was then placed in the Lycoming County Prison on no bail.

Police allege that the two men and a third — who has yet to be charged — along with Jamie Lee West, 45, of 809 Diamond St., conspired to break into the couple’s home and steal money, collectible coins and marijuana from the couple. Police said an estimated $6,200 in cash along with some marijuana were taken in the robbery.

West, who was arrested Monday, faces charges of conspiracy to burglary, theft and felony trespassing. He acted as the lookout, staying outside the home while the other men took part in the assault, police alleged. He is free on $90,000 bail.

Starting at $3.90/week.
