A New York man has been held for court on all charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy at different residences in Williamsport and Loyalsock Township.
Casey Guyer, 36, of Little Falls, New York, was held for court following a recent hearing before District Judge Christian Frey.
Guyer is accused of inappropriate contact and fondling the teen on four occasions between the summers of 2019 and 2020.
When asked why he did not report the behavior, the teen testified, "I was always too afraid."
Guyer's defense attorney, Paul Petcavage, attempted to have charges of criminal attempts of sexual assault, statutory sexual assault and involuntary deviant sexual intercourse thrown out because there was no actual intercourse.
Prosecuting attorney Martin Wade said the charges referred to criminal attempt. Guyer allegedly removed his pants during the incidents and that constituted a significant step toward committing the crimes, Wade said.
Frey did not dismiss the charges.
Petcavage also objected to the teen not identifying the defendant in the case.
Muncy police Detective Raymond O. Kontz III and the teen's father identified Guyer during the hearing and the minor referred to Guyer by name throughout his testimony.
Guyer was released on $75,000 bail and is scheduled to appear for formal court arraignment before Judge Marc Lovecchio on Aug. 23.
