After forcing his way into his ex-girlfriend's apartment at 2030 Mill Lane early Saturday morning, Joshua Sabins confronted her, Old Lycoming Township police alleged in an affidavit.
The confrontation occurred about 4 a.m., sometime after the woman picked up Sabins, of 381 Maple Hill Drive, Montgomery, and brought him to her apartment, police said. The couple broke up several months ago, but she agreed to pick up Sabins because he needed a ride after he had been "out drinking with his friends in Williamsport," the affidavit stated.
After arriving at the woman's apartment, the two began to argue, and she asked Sabins to leave because she did not want to argue with him, police were told. However, he refused to go and started throwing things in the apartment, police said.
Sabins started looking for his wallet, but he remembered he left it in his ex-girlfriend’s car so he went out to get it, police said. She “quickly shut and locked the door. Sabins realized what she was doing so he ran toward the door to stop her. He then busted through the door" and chased her upstairs, police alleged in the affidavit.
Sabins was arraigned hours later before District Judge Aaron Biichle on trespassing, criminal mischief, harassment and other charges. He was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $85,000 bail.
In another case over the weekend, Biichle also arraigned Matthew Butler, 33, of 400 Railroad St., apartment 4, Jersey Shore, on charges of simple assault and harassment that were filed by Tidaghton Valley Regional police after he allegedly attacked his wife, Heather, in 509 Burke St., Jersey Shore, about 9:15 a.m. Saturday.
Police allege Butler grabbed the woman's hair and first banged "her head off a refrigerator and then hit her head off the floor multiple times," an officer wrote in an affidavit. The woman, visibly shaken and upset when police arrived on the scene, told officers that she "blacked out and the thought she had suffered a concussion," according to an affidavit. Following his arraignment, Butler was jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail.
