During the recent Memorial Day weekend, state troopers got 15 suspected intoxicated drivers off the road, according to reports from the Patrol Division at Troop F headquarters in Montoursville. Five of the motorists charged with DUI were done by troopers who were specifically assigned to a special detail that involved DUI checkpoints and roving patrols. A total of 14 troopers were involved in the special detail, which also made two drug arrests, the patrol division reported.
Another 10 suspected impaired motorists were taken off the streets and highways by troopers who stopped the drivers while just conducting routine patrols, police said. All of those charged will receive summonses in the mail to appear before a district judge.
