Kyle Lee Crain, 34, of 20 Nez Perce Road, has been jailed on charges of assaulting his mother in her car as she was driving him home from work on Friday night, Lycoming Regional police alleged in an affidavit.
Dealing with "a gambling problem and out of cash," Crain demanded money from his mother, and when she refused, he became enraged; first "screaming multiple degrading obscenities" at her and then "punching her as hard as he could in her wrist" as she driving, police alleged in the court document.
Crain allegedly began to assault his mother after she decided to drive to the police station on Green Avenue in Old Lycoming Township instead of going home because she feared for her safety, court documents stated.
When she got to the police station, Crain fled on foot.
Hearing a car horn sounding outside the station, officers immediately came out and immediately helped the distraught mother, who was taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport to be treated for her injuries.
Crain was taken into custody hours later and arraigned before Frey on charges of aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering, disorderly conduct and harassment.
He was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.
