The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced Thursday that James Michael Barr, 68, Cogan Station, was indicted by a federal grand jury on federal tax charges.
The indictment alleges that Barr, as the owner of Barr Construction, failed to withhold payroll taxes from his employees from 2017 through 2020, and failed to pay these taxes to the Internal Revenue Service, according to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam.
The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey W. MacArthur.
The maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is five years of imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment and a fine.
