Two motorists to face DUI charges

Anna Smith, 55, of 54 Upland Road, was arrested after state police observed her 2015 Subaru WRX/STI parked in the traffic lane of Lose Avenue at the intersection with Sheridan Street. The engine was shut off and the vehicle’s lights were off.

Upon arriving at the scene, police observed Smith to be sleeping inside the vehicle. Once awakened, Smith had glassy, bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol, stating that she was “just trying to chill,” police allege.

Smith was slow and sluggish and had to be asked twice to exit the vehicle before she complied.

She refused a field sobriety test, relating to police that no one can pass them, and provided an incorrect phone number for her husband when asked if there was someone who could pick up her vehicle, according to an affidavit.

Smith refused lab work.

She was charged with DUI, three summary offenses, waived her preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.

In another case, at 11:15 p.m. on June 20, William Dincher, 68, of 1707 Homewood Ave., was arrested by state police, following a report of a male acting strangely at 681 Rakestraw Road in Fairfield Township.

Upon arrival, police found Dincher’s 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 stuck in the front yard of the residence and Dincher lying in the flower bed behind the truck, according to court documents.

Dincher’s speech was heavily slurred and he stated that he had consumed three alcoholic drinks prior to driving, police allege.

He failed part of a field sobriety test, refusing to complete it due to issues with his legs and had a BAC of .39.

Dincher was charged with DUI, three summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.

Starting at $3.90/week.
