On Aug. 12, Michael Persun, 47, of 1167 Dutch Hollow Road, Jersey Shore, was stopped by Lycoming Regional Police in the 100 block of North Main Street after they observed his 2017 Chevrolet Suburban speeding and weaving excessively outside of his lane of travel.
A strong odor of alcohol was detected from the vehicle, and Persun had glassy, watery eyes with heavily slurred speech, police allege.
An open container of Miller High was visible in the center console, according to court documents.
Persun failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .23.
He was charged with DUI and three summary offenses.
In another case, at 2:45 a.m. on May 21, Darien Hively, 30, of 826 Second St., was stopped by state police near the Faxon exit after they observed his 2015 Jeep Patriot traveling at 71 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.
Hively had glassy, bloodshot eyes, and there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle, police allege.
He admitted to having consumed a couple of drinks prior to driving, an affidavit said.
Hively failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .10.
He was charged with DUI, a summary offense, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
At 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 11, Lateef Cobb, 48, 753 W. Third St., Apt. 3, was stopped by Lycoming Regional Police near Park Avenue and Elmira Street after they observed his 2007 Chevrolet Impala swerving back and forth on the roadway before coming to rest in a residential yard.
Cobb had glassy, bloodshot eyes, and an odor of alcohol, and admitted to having been drinking, police allege.
Cobb failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .27.
Cobb was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
Jacquelyn Baney, 33, of 527 Cemetery Road, was arrested by city police after her 2016 Nissan Altima was involved in a traffic crash at the intersection of Market Street and Washington Boulevard.
Baney had a strong odor of alcohol, and was slow and lethargic while attempting to use her cell phone, missing the key she was attempting to push several times, and admitted to having consumed two alcoholic beverages downtown, police allege.
Baney failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .20.
Baney was charged with DUI, a summary offense, waived her preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, at 10:15 p.m. on June 21, Heather Fox, 43, of 1103 W. Front St., South Williamsport, was stopped by state police just before the Reach Road exit after they observed her 2012 Hyundai Elantra cross over the fog line five times.
Fox had glassy, bloodshot eyes, and a strong odor was detected from the vehicle, police allege.
She initially denied having consumed alcohol, however after police noted the odor, she admitted to having had a drink after work, according to an affidavit.
Fox failed a field sobriety test, and had BAC of .07.
Fox was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived her preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
Raymond Seifert, 48, of Columbia, was stopped by state police near the 6300 block of 220 South in Woodward Twp. After they observed his 2016 Ford F250 crossover the fog line and center lane.
Seifert stopped in the middle of the exit lane without activating its hazard lights, according to court documents.
He had glassy, bloodshot, watery eyes, a strong odor of alcohol, and slurred speech, police allege.
Seifert was wearing a bar wristband, and admitted to having consumed "a few" alcoholic beverages prior to driving, according to court documents.
He failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .15.
Seifert was charged with DUI, five summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released.
At 9:30 p.m. on May 26, Christopher Eichelberger, 28, of 1172 W. Fourth St., was arrested by city police after he was involved in a motor vehicle from which he fled.
Police made contact with Eichelberger, who had an odor of alcohol, at Market Street and Little League Boulevard, where he related that he was coming from the K Bar, and struggled briefly with police before being taken into custody, an affidavit said.
Eichelberger performed a few field sobriety tests, before stating that he was very drunk and wanted to give blood, as he did not want to complete any further tests, court documents said.
He further related that he had consumed 6 shots of Crown Royal prior to attempting to drive home, police allege.
Eichelberger had a BAC of .15.
He was charged with DUI, four summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, at 9 p.m. on Oct. 18, 2022, Mikel Tandy, 23, of Missouri, was arrested by state police after his 2014 Chevrolet Malibu was involved in an accident on Route 220 South in Woodward Twp.
Tandy's vehicle came to rest down an embankment, causing damage to the water/sewer processing station and a traffic sign, and open alcohol beverage containers were observed inside the vehicle, court documents said.
A black and silver semi-automatic Kahr ST9 pistol was discovered near the vehicle, along with a silver Kahr magazine and eight rounds of F.C. Luger bullets, an affidavit said.
Tandy was taken to UPMC Williamsport for possible serious injuries, so was unable to perform a field sobriety test.
Tandy was dazed and disheveled while initially telling police that he was headed home, but couldn't remember anything else from the crash, though later related that he had consumed eight to ten beers prior to driving the vehicle, according to court documents.
Tandy stated that he had acquired the firearm found at the scene approximately a year prior from an unknown friend who he had traded his crossbow with. He added that he did not have a permit for the weapon, but carried it for protection, typically without a round in the chamber.
He had a BAC of .16.
Tandy was charged with DUI, carrying a firearm without a license, three summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released.
