Two charged in separate domestic disturbances
In a desperate attempt to get help as she was held hostage inside her own apartment allegedly by Kavaughn Williams, a male acquaintance, during the early morning hours of Oct. 14, the city woman yelled out a window, according to an affidavit. A neighbor heard her pleas and notified city police. Court records did not state if officers were able to interview the victim at that time. However, the very next day, officers met the victim in the 700 block of Cherry Street, where she had sought refuge after being able to escape from Williams, court records stated. She said that during her ordeal, Williams, 22, of 2607 Grand St., allegedly threatened to kill her as he held a large knife, police were told. In an earlier incident, Williams allegedly choked the woman in her car, police said. While she managed to flee her apartment, Williams continued to send "a series of text messages" that caused the woman "emotional distress," it was alleged in the affidavit. Following his arraignment on Oct. 16, before District Christian Frey on felony strangulation, terroristic threats, simple assault, unlawful restraint and stalking, Williams was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail. Following a preliminary hearing, he was held for court on all charges.
In another domestic case, Steven Lee Miller, 50, of 90 Reese Road, Montoursville, was jailed on charges of strangulation and simple assault after he wrapped his arm around his wife's neck twice, making it difficult to breathe during a disturbance at the couple's Mill Creek Township home on Nov. 3, state police alleged in an affidavit. Following his arraignment before District Judge Aaron Biichle, Miller was initially jailed, but has since been released on $25,000 bail.
South Williamsport woman charged with two counts of criminal attempt
Deborah Dickerson, identified in court papers as the wife of convicted drug dealer and Lycoming County Prison inmate Rashawn Fleming, has now been implicated in an alleged attempt to remove two firearms from a U-Haul storage unit at 238 Penn St. in the city that was rented by Fleming, according to the county's Narcotics Unit. Investigators said Dickerson, 35, of 507 W. Southern Ave., apartment 2, South Williamsport, went to the storage unit on Aug. 28, hoping the U-Haul manager would allow her access to the unit so that she could allegedly remove two handguns before law enforcement discovered them because Fleming, also 35, of the same address, is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.
Police allege when Dickerson, accompanied by a friend, came to the U-Haul storage facility, told the manager that she was Fleming's sister and the friend told the manager that Fleming had died, and that they needed to get into his storage unit. They were denied access, court records stated. Detectives executed a search warrant at the storage unit on Sept. 7 and took possession of two firearms, one of which was stolen.
Dickerson has been arraigned before Biichle on charges of criminal attempt at receiving stolen property and criminal attempt at tampering with evidence. She has waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $15,000 bail.
Eight people charged with drug offenses in separate cases
Dontese Arnell Robinson, 28, of 538 Grandview Place, South Williamsport, has been charged by the county's Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a communications device, for allegedly selling $100 worth of cocaine to an informant on Germania Street in the city's East End on Sept. 28. Initially jailed, Robinson has waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Aaron Biichle and is free on $10,000 bail.
Tristen Parsons, 26, of 925 Fourth St., Jersey Shore, was charged by state police with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia on Little League Boulevard in the city on Sept. 7. A bench warrant for his arrest was expected to be filed after he failed to appear for his preliminary hearing this week.
Glenn Joseph Johns, 41, of 1129 Baldwin St., has been charged by NEU with two felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance and one count of illegal use of cellphone for allegedly selling $80 worth of crack cocaine and five doses of suboxone to an informant on Brandon Place on Sept. 6, court records stated. Arraigned Wednesday before Biichle, Johns was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $95,000 bail.
Nicole Lynn Quartman, 39, of 2106 Cummings St., has been charged by NEU with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and delivery of her controlled substance for her alleged involvement in the sale of crack cocaine that she gave to a man, who sold the drugs to an informant in the 900 block of Louisa Street in the city on July 27, according to court records. She was arraigned Wednesday before Biichle and released on $75,000 bail.
Barbara Dunlap, 59, of 2500 Federal Ave., apartment 338, has been charged by NEU with delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy for her involvement in the sale of cocaine to an informant in the 1600 block of Catherine Street on March 8, it was alleged in court papers. She has waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $15,000 bail.
Brandy Walter, 41, of 599 Grandview Drive, Linden, has been charged by NEU with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone for allegedly selling one gram of crack cocaine to an undercover officer at Vine Avenue and Park Street in the city on Feb. 27, court records stated. He has waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $15,000 bail.
Christine Marie Frater, 40, of 604 Tenth Ave., apartment 1, has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for her alleged involvement in the sale of methamphetamine to an informant at Linn and Diamond streets in the city on Feb. 10, according to court records filed by the county's NEU. She has waived her preliminary hearing and remains jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Summer Rain Deitrich, 20, of 52 Fredna Ave., Montgomery, has been charged by the state Game Commission with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident on game land in Brady Township on Sept. 1. She has waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail.
