Three face felony theft-related charge in separate cases
While employed at two local McDonald's restaurants, Kayla Renay Bausinger, 33, of South Williamsport, stole a total of $30,000 from the restaurants over a two-year period, state police alleged in court papers. The restaurant in Old Lycoming Township at 1940 Lycoming Creek Road suffered the largest loss of $25,618 last year and this year, state police said. Bausinger is alleged to have taken $5,000 from the restaurant in Loyalsock Township at 1730 E. Third St. earlier this year, police said. Following her arraignment on a single count of felony theft, Saturday before District Judge William Solomon, Bausinger was released on $15,000 bail. Many of the alleged thefts were caught on surveillance video cameras, police said.
In another case, Walter Herman, former assistant manager at Kwik Fill at 2601 Lycoming Creek Road in Loyalsock Township, has been charged with stealing $23,639 from the service station between Jan. 9 and Jan. 18, it was alleged in state police court files at Solomon's office. Herman, 48, of 3595 Pine St., Cogan Station, was arraigned Monday on felony charges of theft, receiving stolen property and theft by failure to make required disposition, and released on $15,000 bail. An audit revealed that as many as nine "cash deposits never made it to the bank," court papers stated.
In another case, using an app on her cellphone, Sonia Amber Gair, 40, of 926 Grove St., stole $13,038 from Mark Thompson's bank account between late July and Sept. 10 of last year, it was alleged in a city police affidavit. Investigators stated Gair made "56 unauthorized transactions," illegally moving money from Thompson's account to her own bank account, court records stated. Thompson admitted that at one time, he gave Gair "his bank card to pay a bill," and that he got the card back, police said. He did not give permission for Gair to access his account again, police added. Facing felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property, Gair was arraigned Monday before District Judge Christian Frey and released on $15,000 bail.
Accused impaired driver allegedly caused two disturbances
When alleged intoxicated driver Zachory Cipriani was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Gap Road in Washington Township about 5 p.m. on Aug. 18, the 36-year-old city motorist created such commotion at the scene that police officers were forced to close the road for a brief period of time for his own safety, according to court papers filed by Muncy police. "He created a large disturbance in the roadway which caused traffic to stop," an officer wrote in a criminal complaint. He refused to answer any questions, saying he was messed up and he began shouting a man's name, saying it was his attorney and told officers to call him because he was "pleading the Fifth (Amendment)," meaning he was exercising his right to remain silent.
Five officers from three different police departments had to respond to the scene to assist in taking Cipriani in custody. While en route to UPMC Muncy to submit a blood test, Cipriani continuously yelled obscenities and "experienced a vast range of emotions," according to an affidavit. Once at the hospital, Cipriani, of 2222 Lincoln St., refused to submit a blood sample and "created a loud disturbance in the emergency room," court records stated. After four officers escorted Cipriani out of the hospital, his handcuffs were removed and he was told he was "free to go," the affidavit stated. As he walked away, Cipriani yelled obscenities, "put both middle fingers in the air," and told the officers he would "see them in court," police said.
In addition to DUI, Cipriani has been charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property (he fled the scene of a crash on Ridge Road in Brady Township), resisting arrest and four summary violations. He waived his preliminary hearing last week before District Judge Kirsten Gardner and is free on $5,000 bail.
