Three Warrior Run School District students suffered minor injuries when the Murray Transportation van they were riding was rear-ended by a pickup truck in the 2400 block of 8th Street Drive, about two miles west of the Susquehanna Trail, in Northumberland County's Delaware Township about 7:50 a.m. Monday, according to state police.
A total of six students were on the bus, according to Warrior Run Area fire officials.
Ambulances from Warrior Run Area, Muncy Area, Clinton Township and Montgomery responded to the crash, which police said was the result of the truck unable to stop on the snow and ice-covered roadway when the van ahead of it slowed down for traffic ahead.
The driver of the van, Ashlee Alpaugh, 39, of Watsontown, suffered minor injuries, but declined treatment, police said. The identity of the 17-year-old Watsontown truck driver, who was not hurt, was not released because he is a minor.
Concerning another area accident, Daytona Wentzel, 22, and a passenger in her pickup truck, Micheal Wentzel, 48, both of Montoursville, were treated at UPMC Williamsport for injuries suffered when their vehicle crashed and overturned at routes 87 and 864 in Upper Fairfield about 4:20 p.m. Thursday. Police said the investigation was ongoing.
