At 2 a.m. on Jan. 24, South Williamsport Police arrested Bethany Beachum, 35, of 810 Park Ave., after her 2018 Toyota Corolla struck a parked vehicle in the 300 block of Hastings Street in South Williamsport.
Beachum told police she was traveling from her residence in Tremont to a friend's house in the city following a fight with her boyfriend, relating that she had been swerving as she drove and had swerved too far, causing her to impact the parked car, according to court documents.
Beachum attributed the swerving to her being tired.
She could not produce a driver's license, admitting that it was currently under suspension, an affidavit said. Her license had also expired in July 2022.
Beachum further admitted to having consumed alcohol prior to driving, but exclaimed that she was "not drunk."
Beachum had a strong odor of alcohol and displayed slurred speech, with red, bloodshot eyes, police allege.
She failed a field sobriety test and had a BAC of .30.
Beachum was charged with DUI, three summary offenses, waived her preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, Allen Frazier, 39, of 845 Park Ave., Apt. 14, was stopped by city police after they observed his 2020 Hyundai collide head on with a vehicle at a stop sign at Seventh and Market streets at 10:30 p.m. on April 29.
Frazier was unsteady on his feet, and had difficulty giving police his vehicle information, first offering them his title, court documents said.
After a failed field sobriety test, Frazier, in handcuffs, attempted to flee the scene, but was apprehended in short order.
He had a BAC of .16.
Frazier was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, state police arrested Randie Houseknecht, at midnight on Aug. 4, after they observed the registration lights on his 2012 Honda Civic to be inoperable along State Route 405, near the ramp to State Route 180 in Muncy Creek Township.
An odor of alcohol was detected from the vehicle, and Houseknecht's speech was slurred as he told police he was coming from Hull's Landing, where he had consumed two or three wines, court documents state.
Houseknecht failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .23.
He was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $2,500 bail.
In another case, at 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 13, Bryce Phillips, 23, of 106 New Street, Apt. 2, Muncy, was stopped by state police after they clocked his 2016 Audi A4 traveling at 69 mph in a posted 55 mph zone at exit 23 I-180 East in Loyalsock Township.
With slurred speech, Phillips told police that he was coming from The Bar On Market, where he had picked up a friend, according to court documents.
Due to the presence of a Bar On Market wristband, Phillips was asked if he had been at the bar. He related he had been around 10 p.m., when he said he had one drink, an affidavit said.
Additionally, Phillips had an odor of alcohol and glassy, bloodshot eyes.
He failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .08.Phillips was charged with DUI, three summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
