Loyalsock Township man charged with abusing 911 system
Ronald C. Aderhold Jr., 42, of Loyalsock Township has been charged with abusing the 911 system, a misdemeanor, for calling the county's 911 emergency line nine times for non-emergency incidents between Sept. 26 and Sept. 28, it was alleged in a Montoursville police criminal complaint. It all started with Aderhold called "to report that a neighbor had parked on his property" in the 1100 block of Broad Street in Montoursville, according to an affidavit. When a borough officer arrived on the scene to talk with him, Aderhold "was very upset and would not calm down enough to engage in a conversation. His actions were making the scene unstable," it was stated in an affidavit.
The officer then spoke with Aderhold's father, who actually owns the property. The father said the neighbor's vehicle was "parked on his (Aderhold's) grass," but there were no markings showing the boundary lines between the properties, police said.
While this was happening, the son was back on the telephone with the 911 center, and "I could hear him speaking with the communications center in a belligerent manner," the affidavit stated.
On that day alone, Sept. 26, Aderhold made six non-emergency calls on the 911 line, police alleged.
"The calls were (all) parking complaints and complaints about the officer on the scene," the affidavit stated. Following a recent preliminary hearing, District Judge Gary Whiteman ruled there was sufficient evidence to hold Aderhold on the charge. Aderhold is free on $5,000 bail.
In March, Aderhold pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge, while three charges pertaining to abusing the 911 system were dismissed.
Upper Fairfield Township man faces felony charge
Shane R. Hofer, 35, of 405 Miller Road, Montoursville, has been charged with illegal sale or transfer of a firearm, a felony, after he put incorrect information on a government form when he attempted to buy a handgun from R&J Welch Firearms at 1462 John Brady Drive in Muncy Creek Township in mid-July 2020, state police alleged in a criminal complaint. He has waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Kirsten Gardner on the matter and is free on $25,000 bail.
Hughesville man charged with assault
Even five days after the alleged assault, the state trooper clearly could see bruising under the woman's right eye when he interviewed her at her home in Mifflin Township on Dec. 7.
Police allege Lynn B. Charles, 39, of 160 N. Railroad St., Hughesville, struck the woman 10 times in the face while the two argued in a car on Route 118 in Franklin Township on Dec. 2. Arraigned before District Judge Aaron Biichle on charges of simple assault and harassment, Charles was initially jailed, but he has since been released on $25,000 bail. He has been held for court on the charges following a preliminary hearing last week.
Six charged with drug offenses in separate cases
Brandon Flanders, 53, formerly of the 300 block of Center St. now homeless, was charged with two counts each of delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone after selling cocaine to an informant twice in the city; first at Third and Memorial avenues on Sept. 26 and again in the 1100 block of West Fourth Street on Oct. 3, it was alleged in court papers filed by the county's Narcotics Enforcement Unit. He has waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Christian Frey and remains jailed $15,000 bail.
In another case, state police have charged Jerry T. Grow, 48, of Lewistown, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and illegal use of cellphone for allegedly selling seven grams of methamphetamine to an informant at 170 Maplewood Lane in Mifflin Township on June 22, investigators alleged in court papers filed at the office of District Judge Denise Dieter. He remains jailed on these charges in lieu of $50,000 bail. Grow was arrested in November on state police charges of selling methamphetamine to an informant on Race Street in Wolf Township last May 4.
The narcotics unit has also charged Melissa Hyde, 48, 2629 Riverside Drive, DuBoistown, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone for allegedly selling methamphetamine to an informant in the 200 block of William Street in the city on June 21, according to court papers. Following her arraignment before Biichle, Hyde was released on $25,000 bail. She has since waived her preliminary hearing.
In another NEU case, Eric Hakeem Locke, 25, of 952 Park Ave, apartment 1, has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone for allegedly selling from his apartment four ecstasy pills to an informant on April 24. He was arraigned before District Judge Solomon and released on $50,000 bail.
In another case, Edward David Baity, 61, of 861 Park Ave., has been charged by the county's NEU with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance after two ounces of cocaine were found in a shoe while investigators were executing a search warrant on May 12, according to an affidavit. Arraigned before Biichle, Baity was released on $75,000 bail. Last May, the same agency arrested Baity for selling cocaine to an informant in the area of Ross and Packer streets in the city in early November 2022.
In another case, Michele L. Hite, 31, of 181 Nunn Lane, Hughesville, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after she was found to have a bag of methamphetamine in the 200 block of Muncy Creek Boulevard in Muncy Creek Township on Sept. 30. Arraigned before Gardner, Hute was released on $5,000 bail.
