Theft, drugs, assault among charges lodged in district courts

Trout Run area man charged with stealing father's handgun

Mark Taylor Kuntz, 32 of 133 Leonards Lane, Trout Run, has been charged with felony theft for stealing his father's handgun from the Cogan House Township home the two share about 12:15 p.m. on Dec. 16, state police alleged in an affidavit. Kuntz also tried to steal his father's pickup truck, but the father managed to stop him and the end of Leonard Lane, police alleged. Kuntz, who faces an additional misdemeanor charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, was arraigned last week before District Judge Christian Frey and remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail as well as a probation violation.

Two charged with drug offenses in separate cases

Triz Jefferies, 37, of 651 Wildwood Blvd., has been charged with eight counts of delivery of a controlled substance for his alleged involvement in multiple sales of cocaine to a woman in the 1200 block of Race Street in the city between Sept. 20 and Oct. 20, according to court records filed by the county's Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) at Frey's office. Immediately following the last sale, investigators executed a search warrant at Jefferies' city home and seized an undisclosed amount of "pre-packed cocaine ready for sale," court documents stated. Arraigned last week, Jefferies remains locked up in lieu of $50,000 bail.

In another NEU case, Monique Lakesha Taylor, 48, of 674 First Ave., has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal cellphone for selling from her city home a bag of cocaine to an informant last Jan. 18, according to court records. Following her recent arraignment before District Judge Aaron Biichle, Taylor was released on $50,000 bai.

Loyalsock Township man charged with assault

Ronald Taylor, 37, of 1724 Four Mile Drive, apartment 3, has been charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment for allegedly attacking Dondre Glasper in the first block of West Willow Street by "grabbing him by the throat, punching him multiple times and throwing him to the ground" about 12:45 a.m. on July 29, according to a city police affidavit. Glasper was treated at UPMC Williamsport for facial and head injuries. Taylor was recently held for court following his preliminary hearing before Biichle and released on $5,000 bail.
