Just after 8 p.m. on Nov. 24, 52-year-old Martha Brown, of 936 Third St., Jersey Shore, was stopped by state police after they observed her 2008 Chevrolet Equinox cross the center and fog lines numerous times along Route 220 South near the Route 287 intersection in Piatt Township.
Additionally, police discovered Brown's license was under current suspension.
Brown's speech was overly lethargic and slow, and her eyes were glassy and bloodshot, police allege. She admitted to having taken suboxone an hour prior to driving.
Brown failed a field sobriety test and lab results were positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine and other controlled substances.
She was charged with DUI and three summary offenses.
Brown failed to appear for a preliminary hearing and a bench warrant was expected to be issued for her arrest.
In another case, South Williamsport police stopped Daniel Taylor, 61, of 33 Wise Road, Montgomery, in the area of Allegheny Street and Pennsylvania Avenue after his 2016 Chevrolet Traverse passed a patrol car with its high beams on at 11:15 p.m., June 30.
Taylor stated that he was coming from Lock Haven, where he had been with "a bunch of people," adding, "that's all we were doing," according to an affidavit.
He admitted to having consumed two alcoholic drinks, but said it was at supper time.
Taylor had glassy, bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol was detected from his vehicle, police allege.
Taylor failed a field sobriety test and had a BAC of .08. He was charged with DUI.
In another case, Taylor Mazzullo, 23, of 122 Eldred St., was arrested by city police after she fled after striking two vehicles along Washington Boulevard just after 2 a.m. on Sept. 17.
Mazzullo's vehicle had extensive front end damage to the passenger side, and she admitted to having struck a curb after consuming alcohol, police allege. Mazzullo failed a field sobriety test and had a BAC of .20.
She was charged with DUI, a summary offense, waived her preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, just before 1 a.m. on Oct. 29, Montoursville police stopped Ryan Lachemayer, 47, of 80 Signal Hill Road, Montoursville, on Broad Street, after they observed the registration on his 2017 Chevrolet Silverado to have expired in September.
Lachemayer told police he was unaware that his registration had expired, relating that he visited two establishments that evening where he had consumed alcohol, according to court documents.
He had a heavy odor of alcohol, glassy, bloodshot eyes and was breathing heavily, police allege.
Lachemayer failed a field sobriety test and had a BAC of .18.
He was charged with DUI, a summary offense, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, Terry Johnson, 65, of 6 Hess Drive, Hughesville, was arrested by Hughesville police after his 2015 Volkswagen Passat rear ended a second vehicle in the area of 37 N. Main St. at 6 p.m. on Dec. 7.
The driver of the impacted vehicle advised that he was sitting in traffic, waiting to make a left hand turn when his vehicle was hit from behind, an affidavit said.
Johnson had a strong odor of alcohol, along with slow, slurred, raspy speech and trouble keeping his balance, police allege.
His vehicle had extensive front end damage, with the hood bent backward and the bumper cover disconnected from the car, exposing the engine and radiator.
Johnson admitted to not possessing a driver's license, stating he hadn't had one in "20 or so years," and no insurance was present within the vehicle, according to court documents.
During a consensual search of the vehicle, police discovered an empty vodka bottle in plain view, but partially shoved under the driver's seat.
Johnson told police he didn't know what happened, relating only that he saw the car in front of him stop, followed by the collision, police said.
When asked how much he had drank that night, Johnson replied, "Too much," according to an affidavit. He refused to perform a field sobriety test, stating, "I'm over the limit anyway."
Johnson continued to say he was "over the limit," going back and forth as to whether he would submit to lab work before ultimately refusing.
He was charged with DUI, three summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $2,500 bail.
In another case, state police stopped 31-year-old Joshua Gresh, of Bloomsburg, after they clocked his 2022 Subaru Ascent traveling at 94 mph in a posted 55 mph zone shortly before 3 a.m. on Oct. 14 on Interstate 180 East in Loyalsock Township.
Gresh had an odor of alcohol, glassy, bloodshot eyes and a dry mouth with slow, raspy speech and initially denied driving on the interstate, police allege.
He further denied having consumed any alcohol, but stated that he was leaving from a restaurant where his girlfriend works to go to her house.
Gresh failed a field sobriety test and had a BAC of .14.
He was charged with DUI, three summary offenses and was released on $5,000 bail.
