A Williamsport man has been charged with four felonies after allegedly breaking into the home of a female victim, and causing injury to another man that required 19 stitches early Thursday morning, according to the Mifflinburg Police Department, The Daily Item reported.
Andre Atiim Coach, 50, of Williamsport, faces charges of aggravated assault, burglary, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, fleeing/attempting to elude an officer, defiant trespassing and two summary counts.
At 1 a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of Thompson Street, where Coach was allegedly attempting to kick in the door of an apartment, according to court documents.
The alleged victim has had a protection from abuse order against Coach since early March, police said, according to The Daily Item.
Upon arrival, police observed a 46-year-old woman and a 50-year-old bloodied man outside the residence.
Coach allegedly forced his way into the apartment and fought with the alleged male victim, who suffered a laceration to his arm, police said, The Daily Item reported.
Police have not said what, if any weapon was used during the attack.
The man was treated at the scene before being transported to Evangelical Community Hospital where he received 19 stitches, police said, according to The Daily Item.
Exiting the residence, Coach refused commands to stop, returnd to his vehicle and allegedly fled the scene, police said.
As police pursued Coach east on Route 45, stop sticks were successfully deployed by Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department.
Coach's vehicle traveled just over a half-mile before striking several mailboxes and coming to rest in an embankment, police said, The Daily Item reported.
He subsequently surrendered without further incident, according to police.
Coach was also treated at the hospital for an arm laceration, believed to have been caused during the forced entry to the residence, receiving seven stitches before being turned over to police, The Daily Item reported.
Mifflinburg Police Department was assisted during the incident by Buffalo Valley police, state police at Milton, Evangelical mobile services and Mifflinburg Hose Company.
Coach was arraigned before District Judge Jeffrey Mensch and committed to Union County Prison in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 9.
