Father faces felony charge following DUI crash
Motorist Taylor A. Berkey, 26, of 108 S. Main St., Picture Rocks has been charged with felony endangering the welfare of a child and related offenses following a one-car crash at Route 220 and Beaver Lake Road in Wolf Township that injured his passenger son, a minor, according to state police. Upon arriving on the scene about 5:40 p.m. on Oct. 28, a trooper interviewed Berkey, who was also hurt, in the back of an ambulance.
"His eyes were glassy and bloodshot, and his speech was thick and slurred," it was written in an affidavit. "Berkey admitted to having three to four shots" of rum before getting behind the wheel of his 2008 Subaru Forester which crashed into a utility pole and a chain link fence, police said. His BAC was .18, police said. While Berkey was taken to UPMC Williamsport, his son was taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment of "suspected minor injuries," police said. Berkey has also been charged with recklessly endangering, DUI plus six summary violations. Arraigned before District Kirsten Gardner, Berkey was released on $25,000 bail.
City man charged with receiving stolen property
Because he is prohibited from bringing scrap metal to a local recycling firm, Ryan Hamilton had a family member bring about $200 worth of stolen radiators to the business on Nov. 30, state police alleged in an affidavit. The radiators were stolen from R&S Miller Trucking in Clinton County's Greene Township, police said. Hamilton, 35, of 658 Sixth Ave., has been charged with receiving stolen property, and has since waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Christian Frey.
He is free on $5,000 bail.
Early last year, Hamilton was implicated in stealing catalytic converters from Seitzer's Garage on Route 880 near Jersey Shore, police said.
Three charged with shoplifting in separate cases
Jonathan Tindell, 46, of 1047 Level Corners Road, Linden, has been charged with felony shoplifting and receiving stolen property after he was caught allegedly stealing $13 worth of merchandise from Wegmans, 201 William St., on March 28, city police said. He has since waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Aaron Biichle and is free on $5,000 bail. This was his third shoplifting arrest, police said.
In another case before the judge, Asya Hans, 29, of Watsontown, has been charged with two counts of felony shoplifting after she stole merchandise twice from Wegmans on Feb. 14, it was alleged in a police affidavit. The total value of the merchandise was $112, police said. She has waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail, Police said this was her third shoplifting arrest.
In another case, David Michael Snyder, 41, of 211 Shady Acres Lane, Jersey Shore, has been charged with misdemeanor shoplifting, theft and receiving stolen property after he stole $68 worth of merchandise from Dollar General, 336 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, on March 22, Lycoming Regional police alleged in an affidavit. He has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Denise Dieter.
Two charged in separate employee-theft cases
While employed at R.T. Machine, 201 Boak Ave., Hughesville, Timothy Andrew Savage stole an estimated $3,600 worth of power tools and equipment between Sept. 8 and Sept. 20, state police alleged in court papers. Savage, 34, of 80 E. Water St., Hughesville, has been arraigned before Gardner on felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property, and released on $25,000 bail.
In another case, While employed at Montgomery Brews and Barrels on Montgomery Street in the borough in December, Skyler Dornsief, 29, of 101 High St., Montgomery, stole $529 in cash, $104 in cigarettes and $19 in beverages from the business, state police alleged in an affidavit. He has waived his preliminary hearing before Gardner and is free on $5,000 bail.
Jersey Shore man faces charges following disturbance
Tristen Denali Parsons, 26, of 697 Railroad St., Jersey Shore, faces charges of disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and harassment after he punched Steven Huling in the face outside Parson's apartment about 2:30 p.m. on March 25, it was alleged in a Lycoming Regional police affidavit. Parsons also threw large rocks at Huling's pickup truck, causing an estimated $2,100 in damage, police alleged. Parsons has been sent a summons to appear before Dieter.
