Two Michigan men locked up on high bail
Juan Cortez Richardson 27, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and a passenger, Kendrick Deshawn Troupe, 37, of Battle Creek, Michigan, were both incarcerated after a quarter pound of crack cocaine was found in their Nissan Altima in 1900 block of Lycoming Creek Road in Old Lycoming Township about 4:15 a.m. on April 20, it was alleged in a court document filed by the county's Narcotics Enforcement Unit.
The discovery was made while investigators were executing a search warrant for the vehicle, which was stopped by multiple police units.
The estimated value of the cocaine was $8,000, investigators said.
It is alleged that Richardson and Troupe were bringing drugs into the area from the Detroit, Michigan area and selling them, investigators added. At the time of his arrest Troupe was under investigation for drug and human trafficking by several law enforcement agencies in Michigan, Tennessee and North Carolina, it was stated in an affidavit.
Following their arraignments before District Judge Gary Whiteman on felony charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and illegal use of a cell phone, Richardson and Troupe were committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail each.
Two charged with shoplifting in separate cases
David William Fraser, 65, of Leland, North Carolina, was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting after he was caught stealing a $179 bottle of wine from Wegmans, 201 William St., about 4 p.m. April 23, city police alleged in a court document. Following his arraignment before District Judge William Solomon, Fraser was released on $2,500 bail.
In another case, Iyonna Eddins, 23, of 2501 W. Fourth St., has been charged with two felony counts of shoplifting for allegedly stealing merchandise from the 6th and High Mini Mart, 1037 High St., on Nov. 7 and Jan. 9, city police said in an affidavit. The value of the merchandise was $23, police said, adding that Eddins already has three shoplifting convictions. Arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey. Eddins has since waived her preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail.
Three charged in separate drug cases
While executing a search warrant at the apartment of state parolee Jaziah Strickland at 951 Park Ave. about 10:20 a.m. on April 18, members of the county's Narcotics Enforcement Unit seized 50 grams of cocaine, an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and a handgun, according to an affidavit. Strickland, 25, convicted of felony aggravated assault, was taken into custody and arraigned before District Judge Aaron Biichle on two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and one felony count of convicted felon not to possess a firearm. He remains jailed in lieu of $95,000 bail.
In another case, Thomas Daniel Way, 30, of 134 Locust St., Jersey Shore, has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after investigators found and seized two pounds of marijuana, three small bags of magic mushrooms (a hallucinogenic drug), assorted paraphernalia and an estimated $2,400 of suspected drug money while executing a search warrant at his home on Dec, 11, according to court papers filed by Lycoming Regional police. The warrant was executed after a county probation and parole officer spotted suspected drugs on the property while conducting a surprise visit, police said. Following his arraignment before District Judge Denise Dieter, Way was released on $50,000 bail.
In another case, Tiffany Marie Fox, 34, of 1835 Route 442, lot B18, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia for having marijuana and methamphetamine in the 100 block of 1st Street in Montgomery on Dec. 18, state police alleged. She has waived her preliminary hearing before District Judge Kirsten Gardner and remains jailed in lieu of $7,500 bail.
Mother charged after allegedly punching her two daughters
Jasmine Marie Kapp, 32, of 505 Log Cabin Road, Unityville, has been charged with two counts each of endangering the welfare of her children, simple assault and harassment after punching her two daughters, both minors, in the head at the family's Jordan Township home on April 23, state police alleged.
Following her arraignment before William Solomon, Kapp was released on $25,000 bail.
City woman charged with prostitution
Using the alias "Honeysuckle," Tanya Rouhlac, 53, of 937 W. Fourth St., has been arrested and charged with prostitution for allegedly "operating an illegal sex enterprise" out of her home, according to court records filed by a county detective.
In the document, Rouhlac met with an undercover detective and agreed to perform sexual favors for $220 on Dec. 21, it was alleged in an affidavit.
Arraigned before Frey, Rouhlac was initially jailed, but has since been released on $5,000 bail.
