Tioga County motorist faces assault-related charges
While tailgating a woman driving a PT Cruiser on the afternoon of April 14, 2023, Patrick Royce Burrous, driving a pickup truck, "accelerated and struck" the woman's car on Interstate 180 in Fairfield Township, causing the woman to briefly lose control of her vehicle, state police alleged in an affidavit.
Burrous, 55, of Westfield, fled the scene, police said, adding that the woman, who was not injured, believed Burrous struck her car intentionally. The investigation led troopers to Burrous' damaged truck which when found at his Tioga County home. When a trooper later questioned him about the incident, Burrows admitted to driving the truck in the area on the day of the crash but "denied being involved," the affidavit stated.
Following his arraignment Sunday before District Judge Aaron Biichle on a felony charge of attempted aggravated assault by vehicle, recklessly endangering another person, accidents involving damage to an occupied vehicle and two summary violations, Burrous was released on $25,000 bail.
Patient jailed on charges after allegedly making threats to hospital staff
While a patient at UPMC Williamsport over the weekend, Justin Ray Beach, 33, of 1208 Towncrest Road, made threats to the medical staff and to hospital police, it was alleged in an affidavit.
He told one officer and a patient care technician, "I will take a rifle and (expletive) shoot you in the head," hospital police alleged in the court document. He told one nurse "I will kill you," police alleged.
The threats began soon after Beach was brought to the hospital for evaluation on Saturday, police said, adding that Beach had allegedly been making threats to family members at his home. The threats continued into the next day, police said.
Following his arraignment Tuesday before Biichle on four misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, Beach was locked up in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Convicted shoplifter arrested yet again
Cher Marie Small, 33, of 653 Hepburn St., has been charged with felony shoplifting, conspiracy and receiving stolen property after she stole $151 worth of merchandise from the Weis Market on East Penn Street in Muncy Creek Township on Dec. 3, state police alleged in an affidavit.
Store cameras recorded Small fleeing the supermarket with two other females, all of them walking out with a shopping cart full of items allegedly without paying for them, police said. This was Small's third shoplifting arrest, police said.
She has waived her preliminary hearing before District Judge Kirsten Gardner and remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Charges filed after man knocked unconscious during assault
Tyler Smith, 23, of 45 Amanda Ave., Linden, has been charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment after he attacked Derrick Creamer during an argument inside Sheetz, 5676 Route 15, in Clinton Township about 5 p.m. on March 31, state police alleged.
After punching Creamer in the head and body slamming him to the floor, knocking him unconscious, Smith allegedly punched him three more times, police were told. Both men "dislike one another and have had altercations in the past," police said they were told.
Although knocked unconscious, Creamer's injuries were not serious, and he was soon discharged from the hospital, police said.
Smith has waived his preliminary hearing and is free on $5,000 bail.
