State police stopped Tayshiana Daniels, 24, of 1417 Scott St., along I-180 East near mile marker 27.6 in the city around 11:15 p.m. on Oct. 20, after a routine query revealed that the registration on his 2007 Ford Edge had expired in July. Additionally, the vehicle registration was under current suspension due to a lapse in insurance.
Daniels admitted to driving on a suspended license, stating that she was on her way to work, according to court documents.
She had glassy, bloodshot eyes, and an odor of burnt marijuana, which she admitted to having smoked just before leaving her apartment, police allege.
Daniels failed a field sobriety test, and lab work was positive for the presence of THC.
She was charged with DUI, four summary offenses, waived her preliminary hearing, and was released on $10,000 bail.
In another case, 22-year-old Chloe Orr, of 2523 Waldman Drive, was stopped along Maynard Street, near the intersection with I-180 East shortly before 1 a.m. on Jan. 12, after state police noted her 1993 Buick La Sabre as having an inoperable third brake light.
Orr had an odor of alcohol and glassy, bloodshot eyes, police allege.
She admitted to having consumed a glass of wine and one marijuana edible gummy one hour prior to driving.
Orr failed a field sobriety test, had a BAC of .05, and lab results were positive for the presence of THC.
She was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived her preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, at 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 29, state police arrested Iziah Engel-Marks, 24, of 1209 Thompson Alley, after his 2017 Honda Civic entered the median of I-180 East near mile marker 16.7, striking a guide wire, before before entering the Westbound lane and striking a guard rail.
Engel-Marks had an odor of alcohol, glassy, bloodshot eyes, and was unsteady on his feet, almost falling several times, police allege.
He failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .14.
He was charged with DUI, three summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $2,500 bail.
In another case, Elmer Eichenlaub, 63, of 1368 Old Lairdsville Road, Muncy, was arrested by state police after his 2002 Dodge Dakota was involved in a traffic accident along Route 220 in Wolf Township just before 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 3.
The driver of the second vehicle stated that they were driving north on Route 220 when a vehicle entered their lane from the opposing lane. The driver said he nearly drove off the roadway in an attempt to avoid Eichenlaub, but was ultimately struck, anyway, with Eichenlaub continuing southbound, according to court documents.
Eichenlaub had a strong odor of alcohol and bloodshot eyes, police allege.
Slurring his words, he told police he was coming from a bar in Tivoli, where he had consumed three beers.
"Somebody must have hit me right there and I didn't know it. Somebody on the wrong side of the road had hit me," he said, according to an affidavit.
Eichenlaub failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .19.
He was charged with DUI, three summary offenses, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $2,500 bail.
In another case, city police stopped Ernest Freas, 40, of 4 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport, after they spotted his 2009 Dodge pickup truck driving south on Court Street, a northbound one way street shortly before 1:15 a.m. on Feb. 10.
Freas had an odor of alcohol and slurred speech, and an open container was visible in the center console of the vehicle, police allege.
He admitted to having a "couple beers" prior to driving.
Freas failed a field sobriety test, and had a BAC of .21.
He was charged with DUI, waived his preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
In another case, at 9 p.m. on March 27, 66-year-old Brenda Bohr, of 1457 Lower Manor Road, was stopped by state police after 2014 Toyota Tacoma crossed over the fog line completely onto the shoulder of the road along I-180 East in Loyalsock Township.
Bohr had an odor of alcohol, slurred speech, glassy, bloodshot eyes, and stated that she was coming from her sister's house, where she had consumed one or two beers, an affidavit said.
She failed a field sobriety test, and refused lab work.
Bohr was charged with DUI, two summary offenses, waived her preliminary hearing, and was released on $5,000 bail.
