Assault, child endangerment among charges to go before Lycoming County district judges

Two charged in separate domestic disturbances

Ashayla Minus, a 29-year-old homeless woman, has been jailed on charges after she illegally entered the home of her former boyfriend at 700 Penn St. about 4:45 p.m. Monday and assaulted him in front of two children, it was alleged in a city police affidavit. Once inside the home, Minus allegedly began punching the ex-boyfriend, police said in the document. During the attack, another adult in the home "pulled the children into the kitchen in order to protect them," an officer wrote in the affidavit. Following her arraignment before District Judge Christian Frey on charges of felony burglary, trespassing, simple assault and two counts of recklessly endangering another person, Minus was locked up in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.

In another case, Philip Trent Coleman, 35, of 1068 Vine Ave., will face further court action on a single misdemeanor count of simple assault after he was held for court following his preliminary hearing before Frey. The charge stems from Coleman shoving his girlfriend to the ground outside his home on May 27, city police said. The woman suffered a broken nose and two broken ribs in the assault, police said. Coleman is free on bail.

Inmate allegedly assaulted two corrections officers

Lycoming County Prison inmate and convicted felon Jaziah Strickland faces two additional counts of felony aggravated assault after punching two corrections officers in the face at the jail at 277 W. Third St. on July 13, a county detective alleged in an affidavit. One of the officers suffered a broken nose as well as a cut below his left eye, the detective said.

Jailed on felony drug and firearm charges since April 18 when investigators with the county's Narcotics Enforcement Unit raided his home at 951 Park Ave. and seized 50 grams of cocaine, an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and a handgun, Strickland, 25, a state parolee, was arraigned Tuesday before Biichle on the assault charges and recommitted in lieu of $85,000 bail.

City mother charged with endangering welfare of children

Yahnea Jordan, 26, of 610 Lycoming St., apartment 810, was arrested on a felony charge of endangering the welfare of children after leaving her two children, ages 1 and 3, home alone for an hour on Tuesday afternoon, city police alleged in an affidavit. Following her arraignment before District Judge Aaron Biichle, Jordan was released on $25,000 bail.

City teen faces another set of charges

A new set of charges have been lodged against Dejuan Angel Rivera, 19, of 635 Fourth Ave., who has now been arrested on felony theft and corrupting the morals of a minor after allegedly stealing Mark Singleton's 2016 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck from the 600 block of Fifth Avenue on July 12, city police said.

South Williamsport soon spotted the stolen truck and conducted a traffic stop at an undisclosed location, it was stated in an affidavit. Rivera, the alleged driver and three other males, including two juveniles, bailed out of the vehicle, but were soon apprehended. Rivera was arraigned Tuesday before Biichle and released on $15,000 bail in this case, but he is incarcerated at the county prison on another criminal matter.

The teenager is no stranger to law enforcement.

He was arrested last year on charges of threatening to "shoot up" a school in the Loyalsock Township School District in December 2022. In November 2022, he was charged with felony drug offenses after agents with the county's Narcotics Enforcement unit seized nine bags of marijuana from his home, according to court papers. Rivera was arrested in May 2023 on a felony charge of abuse of children after allegedly posting online a video showing him having sex with a minor, city police said.

The juvenile was unaware Rivera was recording their sexual encounter, police said.

Accused drug dealer arrested yet again

Timothy Easter, 34, of 823 Second St., has been charged by the county's Narcotics Enforcement Unit with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone after selling 2.1 grams of fentanyl to an informant on Winthrop Street in South Williamsport on July 3, a detective alleged in affidavit.

Following his arraignment before District Judge Gary Whiteman, Easter, a convicted felony, was jailed in lieu of $250,000 bail. Easter was arrested earlier this year after detectives from the same narcotics unit seized 50 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of fentanyl and two handguns from his home in late January, according to court records.

Loyalsock Township woman charged with with theft

Lauren Barkley, 27, of 1730 Loyalsock Drive, has been charged with theft after she illegally charged $650 worth of food on a neighbor's credit card in May, according to state police. The neighbor, Maureen Slattery, had allowed Barkley to use her credit card once to order food by using the cellphone app, police said.

Stallery told Barkley to delete the credit card information from her phone, but police allege she continued to order food using Slattery credit card without the neighbor's permission. Barkley has waived her preliminary hearing before Whiteman and is free on $5,000 bail.
