Domestic disturbance lands Loyalsock Township man in jail

Arriving at Drae Delaney Lewis' home at 408 River Ave. in Loyalsock Township to handle a domestic disturbance about 6 p.m. Sunday, state troopers saw the injuries on his girlfriend's face, including a large hematoma (blood under the skin) near the woman's left eye as well as bruises on her left forearm, according to an affidavit. It was alleged that Lewis, 32, put one of his hands around the "woman's throat and applied pressure. She then bit him in an effort to get him to stop choking her. Lewis then released his hold and began to slap and punch her multiple times, including landing a few punches in the area of the head," it stated in a court document. Lewis had already fled the scene when police arrived, but he was taken into custody at his mother's city home a short time later and arraigned before District Judge Kirsten Garden on charges of felony strangulation, simple assault and harassment. He was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Nursing home employee charged with assault

Deborah Ann Brown, an employee at the Williamsport North Rehabilitation Center at 300 Leader Drive, in Loyalsock Township who became ill while at work Monday morning, ended up getting arrested on assault charges after she allegedly punched first an emergency medical technician and then a paramedic, both of whom were trying to treat her, state police said in an affidavit. The assault took place in the back of an ambulance while Brown, 36, was safely secured on a stretcher. "I don't want any help from you guys," she told the ambulance crew as she unhooked the belts to the stretcher, declining medical treatment, police said. However, once state troopers arrived, she agreed to allow them to take her to UPMC Williamsport. Upon being medically discharged, Brown, of 1238 Memorial Ave., was arraigned before District Judge William Solomon on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment, and released on $25,000 bail.

Scranton woman faces two sets of charges

Belinda Sepkoski, 51, of Scranton, has been charged with allegedly taking over $1,000 in cash and a cellphone from Melvin Buck's home at 311 Fredna Ave. in Clinton Township while Buck allowed her to stay at the house during part of July, according to state police. Some of the money and the cellphone were later recovered. She has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property in this case. Sepkoski has also been charged with one additional count of receiving stolen property for allegedly having on her several items stolen from two parked vehicles when she was taken into custody on South Main Street in Montgomery on July 22, according to an affidavit. At the time, she was arrested on at least two separate warrants, including the charges in which Buck was the victim, police said. She has since waived her preliminary hearings for both cases and is free on $5,000 on these charges. However, court records indicated that Sepkoski is incarcerated in Lackawanna County Prison on another criminal matter.

Two charged yet again with shoplifting

Samantha Lee Parsons, 33, of 652 Pepper St., Muncy, and Brian Keith Hoy, 50, who is homeless, have each waived their preliminary hearings on Lycoming Regional police charges of shoplifting and receiving stolen property, which stem from the two allegedly stealing $15 worth of merchandise from Smoker's Express, 350 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore on May 26. Both have a history of committing shoplifting offenses, police said, adding that Hoy's shoplifting charge was a felony. While Parsons is free, Hoy remains incarcerated in the county prison in lieu of bail.
