New York City man arrested after allegedly running from South Williamsport police

Kenwan Wright, 26, of Staten Island, New York, has been charged with evading arrest and resisting arrest after he fled from a South Williamsport police officer who was questioning him about his possible involvement in another matter in the 500 block of West Southern Avenue about 5:40 p.m. on Dec. 8, it was alleged in an affidavit. While questioning the man, the officer told him several times not to run, but Wright ignored the officer’s commands and took off, the court document stated. As he chased after him, the officer told him to stop, but Wright paid no attention as he attempted unsuccessfully to hide from the officer, police said. During the pursuit, Wright fell to the ground and was then taken into custody. Wright has since waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Whiteman and is free on $5,000 bail.
