Williamsport man arrested following disturbance outside mother’s home

Refusing repeated orders to get out of his mother’s car on the night of Feb. 25, Wayne Joseph Beamer, 48, formerly of 610 McMinn Ave., had to be removed from the vehicle by two officers, “who had to use substantial force to get him on the ground and overcome his resistance,” it was alleged in an affidavit. Officers had been dispatched to the McMinn address after his mother called 911 and reported that her son was “screaming in the middle of the street” and had allegedly threatened her, the court document stated. Beamer, who is now considered “homeless,” had been “keeping his belongings in a shed and he had been told to leave several times, but he refused unless his mother provided him with money,” the affidavit stated. At one point, as officers were trying to convince him to step out of the vehicle, Beamer “continued screaming and told officers the only way he would leave was if officers shot it,” the affidavit stated. Once in custody, Beamer was arraigned before District Judge Aaron Biichle on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, and jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail. He has since waived his preliminary hearing and is now free on bail.
