As he passed a Lycoming Regional police officer, Jordan Andrew Kulp, 36, of 338 High St., Apt. 1E, allegedly leaned over his steering wheel and turned away from the patrol unit. Finding the activity suspicious, police followed the vehicle as it made a series of turns in areas with signs prohibiting the action, and ultimately initiated a traffic stop at Lycoming Creek Road and East. Roosevelt Avenue in Old Lycoming Township.
Relating that he was coming from his residence to check out an apartment in the area, Kulp allegedly admitted that he had recently been stopped for driving on a suspended license and that he been caught driving under the influence, but had not yet been charged, an affidavit said.
He provided a state I.D. Card, but was unable to find registration or insurance cards for the vehicle.
Kulp allegedly admitted to carrying a machete in the vehicle and related that while he still dabbled in methamphetamine since his DUI, that he hadn't used in awhile.
During a consensual search of the vehicle, police discovered a small glass vial containing a white crystal substance, which Kulp allegedly admitted was methamphetamine, though he stated he had no idea it was in the vehicle, according to court documents.
Kulp was arraigned on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a license and failing to obey traffic control devices.
He was arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey and released on $5,000 bail.
