Police: Impaired driver charged with recklessly endangering following crash
Karen Yessenia Still has admitted that before getting behind the wheel of her 2011 Jeep Liberty on the morning of Aug. 10, she took “an excessive amount of pills,” city police said in an affidavit. While traveling east in the 700 block of West Fourth Street, the 30-year-old city woman crashed her SUV head-on into an oncoming vehicle at Campbell Street, where Fourth Street becomes westbound one way, police said. No one was injured in the crash. The driver of the car that was hit, along with a passenger, both said that Still had “no reaction and a blank stare while driving directly at them,” it was stated in the court document. The driver took evasive action, but both vehicles collided, police said. A blood test revealed a large amount of Lorazepam in her system, police added. Charged with two counts of recklessly endangering another person and one count of DUI, Still, of 1107 Baldwin St., has waived her preliminary hearing before District Judge Christian Frey and is free on $5,000 bail.
