Four arrested in separate domestic disturbances
Sahmire Rafeek Teasley, 30, of 21 W. Fourth St., apartment 7, remains locked up on four charges after assaulting a woman in an East Third Street motel room in Loyalsock Township during the early morning hours of March 7, state police alleged. The trouble started when the woman attempted to kick Teasley out of the room after discovering he was allegedly “selling crack cocaine,” it was stated in an affidavit. So she could not call police or leave the room, Teasley took the woman’s cellphone and car keys, police were told. At one point, Teasley threatened her life and put her in a chokehold, restricting her breathing, it was alleged in the court document. Police also have accused Teasley of striking the woman in the legs several times with the grip-end of a handgun. It was several hours before the victim could call police to get help. She was treated at UPMC Williamsport. Upon interviewing the woman at the hospital, a trooper “noticed bruising starting to form on her neck,” the affidavit stated. Arraigned last week before Whiteman on charges of felony strangulation, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment, Teasley was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.
In another case, David Edward Hill, 31, of 516 Fairmont Ave., South Williamsport, has been arrested on charges of felony strangulation and simple assault after he grabbed a woman’s neck, pushed her down on a bed and began choking her in his home during the early morning hours of Feb. 20, borough police alleged in an affidavit. The investigating officer noticed “significant bruising on the left side of her neck,” it was stated in an affidavit. Following his arraignment before Whiteman, Hill was initially jailed, but has since been released on $15,000 bail.
In a third case, Khyla Dunkleberger, 26, of 215 Walnut St., faces further court action on city police charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness that stem from a domestic disturbance at her home about 3:10 a.m. on March 2. As an officer neared the house, he could hear the woman screaming even though he was still a half a block away, it was stated in an affidavit. Once on the scene, the officer made several unsuccessful attempts to calm Dunkleberger down, but she kept screaming and began pounding on the front door, police said. When her father opened the door, Dunkleberger ran inside the house and grabbed hold of her elderly mother, it was alleged in the court document. The officer then entered the house and tried to separate Dunkleberger from her mother, who was “clearly fearful” as a result of her daughter’s actions, police said. While struggling with Dunkleberger, the officer was knocked to the floor and into a television stand, police said. Two additional officers soon arrived and got control of Dunkleberger who was handcuffed and then arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey. During the proceedings, she told the Frey “I call for help. I get assaulted. Please tell my family to stay the (expletive) of my therapy.” Initially jailed, she has since been released and has waived her preliminary hearing. Since September, this was Dunkleberger’s fourth time of being charged because of “similar occurrances,” police said.
In a fourth case, Vernon Corenelious Wright, 23, of 1573 Kinsley Road, Cogan Station, has been arrested and jailed on charges of allegedly trying to strangle a family member in his Lycoming Township home on March 11, Lycoming Regional police allege in an affidavit. Upon being questioned, Wright admitted to choking and biting the victim with the intent to kill her, police said. Following his arraignment before District Judge Denise Dieter on charges of felony strangulation and simple assault, he was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.
