TROUT RUN – A woman in her late 20s was being treated for injuries she suffered Tuesday morning when her Ford Escape rolled over a guardrail on Route 15 South and plunged more than 100 feet down an embankment about three miles north of here, according to state police.
Investigators said she lost control of her car as she was rounding a curve about 8:20 a. m.
The vehicle went airborne and then rolled several times down the embankment, landing upright, police said.
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was conscious and alert in the car when Trout Run firefighters arrived on the scene.
Trout Run Fire Capt. Chuck O’Brien Jr. said firefighters loaded the victim into a Stokes basket and then used several hundred feet of rescue rope to pull her up the embankment.
The woman was then taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport, police said.
Assisting Trout Run firefighters, were firemen from Old Lycoming Township as well as fire police from Hepburn and Old Lycoming townships.
