Avis yard sales, breakfast

AVIS – Avis United Methodist Church, 215 Prospect Ave., will have a food, bake sale and book table from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. as part of the Avis community yard sales. Also, the church mission team will hold a free yard sale at the church parsonage, 302 Grove St., as well as a free breakfast from 7-9 a.m. with donations going to the Avis Fire Co.

Turkey dinner

Carsontown church open

CARSONTOWN – Carsontown Community Church will begin summer services at 9:30 a.m. The nondenominational church has been serving the Little Pine Creek area for more than 100 years and is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The church is along Little Pine Creek Road (Route 4001), 3 miles southwest of English Center or 8 miles northeast of Waterville, in the Village of Carsontown.

Ham dinner scheduled

NORTMONT – St. Paul’s United Methodist Church will hold a Memorial Day weekend ham dinner from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Nordmont Community Hall. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.

Free soup luncheon

Central Baptist Church, 601 Seventh Ave., will hold a free soup luncheon for the community from noon to 1:30 p.m.

All-you-can-eat buffet

PENNSDALE – Trinity United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road, will hold an all-you-can-eat buffet catered by Springman’s Country Store from 4-7 p.m. The menu features carved bone-in ham and boneless chicken cutlet. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-10 and free for children under 5 years. Take-outs are available for $10 each.

Saving energy workshop

New Covenant Church of Christ, 202 E. Third St., will hold workshops from 3-4:30 and 6:30-8 p.m. to help people learn how their congregation can be more energy efficient. The workshop is free and is being presented by leaders of Pennsylvania Interfaith Power and Light. Between workshops there will be a tour of New Covenant to see the energy-saving modifications they have made. Light refreshments also will be available at that time. Music program set

NAUVOO – St. Paul’s-Nauvoo United Methodist Church will sponsor a vocal and instrumental program at 7 p.m. at the church. The concert will be followed with a brownie sundae bar. Cost is by donation and all proceeds will go toward the church’s mission trip to Swan’s Island, Maine. Nauvoo is off Route 414 west of Liberty, about 30 miles north of Williamsport on Route 15.

Summer music camp

Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church, 1301 Clayton Ave. in Loyalsock Township, will hold a summer music camp for children in kindergarten through eighth grade daily from 9 a.m.-noon. Concert performances will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday and 7 p.m. Friday according to camp Director David Koskey. Registration deadline is June 9. Cost is $10, although scholarships are available.

May Crowning

Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 100 Walnut St. in Montoursville, will hold its annual May Crowning during the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Participants include this year’s First Communion class and graduating high school students. Placing the crown at the shrine of the Blessed Mother will be Melanie Santo.

Outdoor Episcopal service set

An outdoor Episcopal church service will be held at 11 a.m. at Indian Park in Montoursville. The event is hosted by Trinity Episcopal, All Saints, Church of Our Savior and Church of the Good Shepherd and will be held at pavilion 5. Dress is casual. Bring your lawn chairs. A picnic will be held after the service.

Country gospel music night

TURBOTVILLE – Zion Lutheran Church, 39 Paradise St., will hold an evening of country gospel music starting at 6:30 p.m. featuring The Joe Murray Band. Prior to the show, a soup and sandwich meal will be served in the church social hall. A donation will be taken to cover the costs of the meal.

For those who enjoy hand crafts, such as knitting, crochet or embroidery, bring your current project or the materials for a new project and enjoy a time of fellowship and sharing Central Baptist Church, 601 Seventh Ave.. If you would like to learn a craft, come and we will show you the basics. We will work on our crafts from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Also, we have information from non-profit organizations that can use certain handcrafted items if you would like to make something to donate. A light lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. and a movie will be shown at 1 p.m.

Women’s night out

ROARING BRANCH – Rock the Mountain, a time of fellowship and worship, will be held at Mt. Zion Retreat Center starting at 3 p.m. The event will feature Patmos, a group of young adults from Elim Bible College, with participation events such as the playing of volleyball, horseshoes and gah gah court. All proceeds from the snack shop will be given to Oasis of Hope, a safe house for domestic minor victims of sex trafficking. Worship time with Patmos begins at 7 p.m.
