Operation Christmas Child collections this week

Samaritan’s Purse kicks off its national collection week Monday for Operation Christmas Child, an annual holiday drive with the goal of donating shoe boxes full of gifts and necessities to children in need for Christmas.

Operation Christmas Child has operated locally for the past 14 years and collected around 5,000 shoe boxes in 2018.

This year’s shoebox collection dates and locations follow:

• Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine St., Williamsport, noon-5 p.m. Monday; 2-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 2-6 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m.-noon Saturday; 12:30-6:30 p.m. Sunday; and 9-11 a.m. Monday.

• Radiant Light Church, 9565 Route 442, Muncy, 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 4-7 p.m. Tuesday; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday; 2-4 p.m. Sunday; 8-10 a.m. Monday.

• First Presbyterian Church, 18 Market St., Lewisburg, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday and Wednesday; 10 a.m.-noon and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday; 4-7 p.m. Wednesday; noon-7 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday; noon-5 p.m. Sunday; and 9-11 a.m. Monday.

• Watsontown Alliance Church, 1165 Eighth Street Drive, 2-4 p.m. Monday; 6-8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 1-3 p.m. Saturday; 3-5 p.m. Sunday; and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday.

• First Baptist Church, 301 Main St., Blossburg, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday through Friday; 6-8 p.m. Tuesday; 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday; noon-4 p.m. Sunday; and 7:30-11 a.m. Monday.

Requested items include small to medium sized toys, hygiene products or school supplies. The organization asks that candy, toothpaste, used or damaged items, toy weapons, fruit snacks, liquids, medications or vitamins, breakable items and aerosol cans not be included.
