As we have entered into the second month of 2022, there is a continual shift of circumstances that have affected each of us in different ways. Some ways may include the direct impact of social distancing, the changing of school systems and economic structures, to very personal family issues such as how we deal with illness and the process of grief and loss of loved ones.
This year, 2022, represents the year of light. According to biblestudy.org, "the Hebrew alphabet is made up of twenty-two letters." Psalm 119:105 calls the word of God "a lamp," which is "the light in which we are to live." Depending on the translation, there are "264 times" when light is found in scripture, and if you divide that by 12, you get 22. This year also represents the year of double blessing and double exposure.
Job 22:28 states that you shall "decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you, and that the light (of God's favor) shall shine upon your ways" (AMP). This challenges us daily to decide and also to speak over all those things that concern us. It also gives us a promise that the light of His favor will shine upon our ways. This leaves us with a daily decision to either yield to uncomfortable feelings of uneasiness, worry, doubt, and fear of the future or to remain in the place of trusting that God continues to "work all things together" for our good because we "are called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28 ESV).
Today, I would like to challenge our thinking and to call these things uncommon opportunities. This would require us to change our perspective and to capitalize on the solution(s) that can only be gained by seeking out the hidden opportunities that we can find by seeking the face of God. According to Merriam-Webster, an opportunity is "a chance for advancement or progress." Perspective is "the judgement or internal capacity that we must have to make a choice or a decision." Isaiah 55:8-9 states: "'For my thoughts are not your thoughts. Nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord. 'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts your thoughts.'"
We know that God always has different goals than we do and He is always going for a higher good than we can imagine. It is by seeking the Holy Spirit and allowing Him access into the deep recesses of your mind and heart that He can give a revelation or a hidden opportunity to remain stable.
It is only by trusting Him that you can find that place of rest, even when things do not look favorable at that moment.
Second Peter 3:9 states that the Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness but that He wants us to come to a place of repentance.
The prefix "re" means to come back from or to make things new again to its original intent. One of the synonyms of the word "pent" is to be released or to be loosed. So for Him to get His original intent out of our pain, we must learn to turn away from our own way of thinking and turn to Him so that He can continue to bring us to the place of original intent and purpose, and then He will get the total glory out of it.
