“It’s a wonderful cause.”

That is how Kristin Fleck, of Milton, describes Saint Joseph’s Center in Scranton. Saint Joseph’s Center serves people who have intellectual or physical disabilities.

Kristin’s son Gregory agrees that it is a wonderful cause — so much so that Gregory, 22, has been raising money for the center for the last seven years. The money is given to Saint Joseph’s through the WNEP’s Go Joe annual bike ride.

Gregory, who has cerebral palsy, could be found riding his bike around the parking lot of the Church of the Resurrection in Muncy recently for one of the two fundraisers he has planned this month. People were encouraged to walk, bike, or skateboard around the parish parking lot alongside him. This fundraiser brought in over $1,400 in donations.

“It’s very expensive to have and raise a child with special needs,” said Kristin.

“A lot of money goes into Saint Joseph’s Center, not only for the children to have great and prosperous lives but also in the upkeep of the facility,” she shared.

Gregory’s second fundraiser, the Go Greg Festival, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 24, inside Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1125 Mahoning St., Milton.

This event will have live music, games, food, raffles and a dunk tank, with all money going directly to Saint Joseph’s Center.
