LEWISBURG -- Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third St., Lewisbug, recently received a grant from the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania.
The church was notified that it is the recipient of a grant from the Lindig Lewisburg Foundation through the FCFP. The Lindig Fund supports programs and projects that benefit the Borough of Lewisburg.
The grant of $694 will facilitate the purchase of archival boxes and folders, which will further the protection of the church's extensive archives. With a congregation founded in 1802 and a church building erected in 1902, the church archives maintains congregational members' vital records, worship bulletins, event programs, photographs and records pertaining to organizations within the congregation.
The church archives are maintained within a temperature-maintained room and overseen by congregational members Gary Parks and Charlotte Winter. As one of the requirements of the grant, a catalogue of the materials will soon be available.
