The Very Rev. Fr. Seraphim Reynolds of Holy Cross Orthodox Church in Loyalsock, blessed the Loyalsock Volunteer Fire Company equipment, including their new engine.

“Show support for the community and to invoke God’s blessing upon all their equipment and the way that they serve their community, to show that our church cares,” said Reynolds of his visit.

“It’s a regular thing we do every year, is bless the vehicles,” added Reynolds.

It’s usually done at his church in July, on the Sunday closest to the Feast of Saint Elijah, who is pictured with a chariot.

“So we bless the chariots,” said Reynolds.

“We are very appreciative that Father came down to bless the fire company,” said Mike Minnier, assistant chief, adding it gives a new beginning to the new truck.

Loyalsock’s newest engine is expected to be put into service by the end of the month, according to the department.
