An evening filled with worship, prayer, praise and spiritual renewal is what can be expected for those attending the "Encounter Revival," according to Pastor Isaac C. Evans, senior pastor at Love Unlimited Ministries, which is hosting the event.
"So it's going to be a night of just seeking God for your loved ones, for those who are lost, their souls to be saved, those who are out there that need to come back," Evans said.
The citywide gathering is designed to bring churches, pastors, ministry leaders, families and members of the community together for an evening of worship, prayer, encouragement, healing and spiritual renewal.
"They can expect an encounter with God for people to meet God. For families that are broken to be restored. For people who are going through situations that seem to be hard to get through. They are welcome to come to get an encounter with God," Evans said.
"A lot of people have been wounded through rejection, through hurt, through discouragement, so it's healing, spiritual healing, renewal," he said.
The event is from 7 to 10 p.m., Friday at the Scottish Rite Auditorium, 348 Market St. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the revival begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Several local churches as well as churches from Philadelphia, New Jersey and Delaware will be participating.
"I just want people to know that if they'll come, I guarantee that they'll get an encounter and they won't leave out of that place the same," Evans said.
"It will be a spiritual awakening, getting to see and feel the presence of God," he said.
Evans also shared that plans are in the works to have a citywide youth encounter revival.
"There are youth that are broken, there are youth that need to be revived. The way the youth are going now, they need people there that can pray for them. People with mentorship, places that they can go that they can feel that they're protected, places that they can go where they can feel that they're needed or that they're wanted," he said.
"A lot of times, youth seem to be outcasts. Nobody wants to help them. They are always talking about them, but who's there to help them? Because somewhere along the line, youth have gotten disconnected, or they have gotten lost, and people push them aside. That's the next generation that needs to be ministered to," he added.
No date has been set for the youth encounter revival.
