Local advocates remark on voter turnout

Dr. Grace Shu, senior adviser to the U.S. Public Health Service and chair of the bi-partisan U.S. Asian American Voters Coalition, and her husband, Dr. Jason Shu, MD, a member of the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine, recently remarked on their pride in Asian Americans in Pennsylvania who participated in the 2024 election.

“There are approximately 473,000 Asian Americans in Pennsylvania, which is about 3.67% of the Commonwealth’s population. Their votes are crucial to both parties because Pennsylvania is an important swing state,” Grace Shu said, according to a news release.

Dr. Jason Shu noted that “compared to the 2020 election, President Trump did much better with Asian American voters in 2024, especially in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Allegheny, Centre and Dauphin counties, which also affected down ballot results.”
