Water boil advisory remains in effect
A water boil advisory remains in effect today for those impacted by a water main break covering a more than 6-mile stretch of Warrensville Road in Loyalsock Township, officials with the Williamsport Municipal Water Authority said Wednesday.
“Provided there are favorable tests of the water, the boil advisory could be lifted today,” he said.
Those affected will be notified by telephone and media will be alerted when the advisory is lifted, said Douglas Keith, authority executive director.
The impact area covered East Third Street north along the road and included the County 911 Center, two nursing homes and the county farm, Keith said Wednesday at the authority meeting.
The pipeline was installed 45 years ago and pressure caused the cast iron piece to break, he said.
The authority is providing a water buffalo (water storage) tank at Valley View Nursing Home and other locations for those who want fresh drinking and bathing water, he said.
Fulmer’s Water Hauling, of Williamsport, supplied three 5,600-gallon tankers of fresh water for the Valley View Complex and several buildings. That’s more than 15,000 gallons of water, and it would continue until the boil advisory is lifted. The business previously provided water for the area in July 2015 when the same water main broke and ruptured, according to Tom Fulmer, company president.
