South Side’s Dincher and Dincher plant 19 trees

As part of its annual Arbor Day project, Dincher and Dincher Tree Surgeons planted 19 trees this week in the Memorial Grove at the South Williamsport Recreation Complex.

The bare-root trees were planted in memory of William R. Miller, the former mayor of South Williamsport and a colleague of theirs, according to Bernie Dincher.

Miller, who passed away about two years ago, had been a forester and inspector with PPL, and the local tree

surgeons had worked with him for over 30 years, Dincher said.

The species planted were heritage, red and pin oaks, dawn redwoods and sugar- and autumn-blaze maples. Those particular varieties were chosen, Dincher noted, because they are large canopy trees and are tolerant to a wet environment. The trees were planted near a storm swale at the park.

Each year, the business donates trees in honor of Arbor Day, Dincher said. In the past it has planted trees in Newberry Park, at the Little League World Series Complex and also at Central Elementary in South Williamsport.

Starting at $2.99/week.
