Montoursville Borough Council makes reappointments

Montoursville Borough Council voted to reappoint a number of people to jobs and municipal boards during its regular monthly meeting Monday night.

Ginny Gardner was reappointed as secretary/treasurer and Cliff Hoffman as streets/water project coordinator.

Gardner will also serve as open records officer and tax collector.

Dr. Steven Rush was reappointed to a three-year term on the zoning hearing board and a one-year term on the property maintenance board of appeals.

In other personnel action, Marian Harris was reappointed to a five-year term and Bob Dunne to a three-year term on the recreation board. Chris Reed was reappointed to the planning commission through the year 2023.

Council voted to retain McCormick Law Firm as borough solicitor.

Pysher & Associates, Larson Design Group and Levine Engineering, LLC will serve as borough engineers.

Council went ahead and approved the retainer agreement for 2019 with Larson Design Group.

Natural Waterscapes was hired to install an aeration system at Indian Park Pond at a cost of $10,899.

Councilman Christopher Lucas said the system is needed to introduce additional oxygen to the water and improve wildlife habitat.

“Studies show the pond is dying,” he said.

Lecce Electric will be paid $6,019 for the electrical work.

Lucas said grant money will be used to fund the project.

It was agreed by council to purchase a UTG spreader with a tailgate spill shield from Bradco Supply Co. for $3,330.

Council voted to hire Lisa Loveless as a full-time assistant clerk. Loveless has been filling the job on a temporary basis.

The next council meeting is set for Monday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. at the municipal building.
