Old Lycoming Township updates recycling containers

1 min read

Lycoming County Resource Management Services has made improvements to the recycling drop-off containers at the Old Lycoming Township recycling site, 1250 Princeton Ave.

The intent of these improvements is to help eliminate unwanted waste and plastic bags, and to maximize its recyclable volumes.

Changes include enclosing the cans, plastics, and glass openings to ensure only cans, plastics bottles, and glass bottles and jars are deposited into their respective containers.

Only glass bottles and jars are acceptable for glass recycling. Plate glass, window panes, or ceramics are prohibited.

Number 1 and number 2 plastic bottles can be recycled, but not plastic toys, laundry baskets, hangers, or any other random plastic pieces.

Additional bars have been placed across the cardboard containers, magazines, and newspaper containers to ensure boxes are broken down and to eliminate waste.

Over the next couple years, the other recycling sites in Lycoming County will be updated with these improvements.
